Chapter 29: The Upcoming War
-Kili's POV-
I ran/stumbled through the maze of rooms in the I.G.B headquarters, Will at my heels.
"What's going on? How did you get that wound there? KILI!" He was screaming over the commotion that had been set a foot in the headquarters. I turned sharply and bumped into Aragorn, just the man I was looking for.
"Aragorn! The dark magic, the wounds... the war is starting!" I hurriedly said to him. He looked unfazed as he helped me up, studying me from head to toe before noticing the wound on my leg. He bent over to touch it but I backed away unsteadily. "Aragorn, we have to do something! We have to warn them!"
"... We can't," he whispered. He looked up with a serious face and had to blink away a few tears. I couldn't help but fall to the ground, because he didn't need to say any more for me to understand. "They were already attacked, Rishardo sent out a distress signal as soon as he knew what was going on. T.M is trying to erase magic from everyone except him and his followers... permanently."
"We... we have to stop him! We have to!" Will snapped furiously, trying to hide the pain that had filled his grief filled eyes. Then, he asked the question that no one else dared ask, "Did she... die?"
Aragorn looked away trying to hide the tears, but it was not hard to see them as they fell down his cheeks. How could she have died?! Rishardo should've been taking care of her!
"We... We lost connection with them. We don't know what happened," he said, not looking at us, "but you can't go looking for her... Promise you won't, please."
"I promise..." I whispered as I felt my heart shatter to a million pieces, then burnt, then thrown into a never ending abyss. I wiped away the tears that grew under my eyes and thought of everyone in the headquarters and for once... not Sapphire. "We need to warn everyone here to stay inside. No more outdoor skirmishes or shopping, and you can't leave without permission and a warrior/partner. We have to keep them protected, all of them."
"What about Flora?" Will asked from behind me. I forgot he had stayed on my tail the whole time. "She's disappeared! She might be in danger!"
"No, Will," I put my hand on the top of his head, he had the kindness of Sapphire in heart. I gave him a half smile, "Sapphire warned me she left, with her memories. She can now fend for herself."
"Sapphire told you about Flora? I didn't even know about that. You are really special to her, I hope you know that," Aragorn murmured in a little more than a whisper. With that, he walked away to talk to the others in headquarters. He grabbed a stool and stood up on it to get everyone's attention then started to speak. "I know you are all afraid, the dark magic we banned so many years ago has yet again been opened and we can't stop it without our leader, Sapphire. But we can surely try in all our power to stop it from growing until Sapphire has recovered her memories and can stand by our side and defeat it once and for all.
"Our wounds show again to pulse fear through our blood to stop us from doing what's right. Look, people know us from the big fight at the jail, so no longer are we looking after ourselves, but everyone that has seen us that knows us and is ready to lay down their lives with us. We have to protect everyone now, not just ourselves so we have to have twice as much courage as we have had before and make sure that everyone is safe from the darkness that infests this world. We know the evil can lurk in a heart or inside the cover of a book, are we really ready to make this world and its people go through all of that alone? So, who's with me?"
A bunch of cheers followed his speech and I could see the light and hope that reflected inside of everyone's eyes. We were ready for this.
-Rishardo's POV-
I gently stroked Sapphire's brilliant blonde hair as I awaited her eyes to flutter open, but my faith was running low. That was until I saw something glimmer out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see the ghost of a woman standing just inches away, I recognized her immediately.
"Mother?" my response was a question had never asked. My mother had left me when I was a little boy and I had few memories of her. I did remember one thing, she was a healer. "Why are you here?"
"You called me, Rishardo. Your magic and love for this young girl... Sapphire. As you saved her dying breath, I was drawn to you for only I can completely heal her. Yet, if I do she will be in danger of remembering everything and possibly unlocking her magic so much she uses control and might possibly kill everyone around her. Unless... you use your magic to store some of hers in you until she is ready to take it back," mother explained simply. She looked at me with sympathy in her eyes. "I already know your choice, but you must be careful. Her magic is strong it can harm you if you do anything wrong."
I simply nodded and watched as my mother put her hand over Sapphire's head. I used my magic to grab some of the magic from Sapphire and contained it as mother finished her part. As Sapphire's eyes started to open, mother disappeared. Sapphire opened her eyes and all I could do was embrace her.
"Welcome back, Sapphire," I whispered.
"Hello, Rishardo," She whispered back. All I could do was gasp... she remembered.
