Chapter 33: The Heart of the True

-Rishardo's POV-

I could hear screaming as the world rushed passed me. My body had given up against the gravity and I was ready to completely leave. I couldn't imagine a life without Sapphire... it was just too much for anyone to ask of me. She had been my one true love, stolen from me over and over again. Something warm grabbed my free hand, and I turned my head to see what it was. I bright aura was next to me, and as it slightly dimmed I noticed a faint outline of a person. A single tear fell down my cheek as the person came into view.

"Sapphire," I whispered. She looked at me, and tears streamed down my face. I pulled her against me, careful to not squish the child that I was also holding.

"I guess death finally caught up to me, after all," she said, tears coming down harder and harder. Now I was crying too, and it was like the world wasn't even there anymore, my life wasn't ending by falling out of building... it was just the last few moments with Sapphire that I was never supposed to have. "My time has come, but you can't leave yet. You are my messenger, the savior. All of those people that had looked to me for answers, they now look to you, waiting for commands to head to save the rest of the world."

"I... I can't be you. I can't save people like you... I just can't," I whispered, holding her a little tighter. I was afraid she might leave, let me die, because I wasn't like her and I couldn't do everything she could.

"No, you're better than me. You converted yourself from evil to good without needing anyone's assistance. All I die was... leave everyone," she said looking at me, and making my cheeks burn like fire. "You can do this."

Her voice faded and slowly, so did she. I waved my hands through the air, trying to catch her. She just wasn't there. I was so mad. They killed her, they've killed so many. It was time fro them to pay. The aura around me disappeared and I was, once again, falling with a screaming child in my arms. I flipped around and aimed my head down towards the ground. I crashed down on my feet and cracked the surface of the cement. When I moved, I noticed a huge crater in the spot I landed. I took one look up at the hospital, and took a run for it, heading to the only place I knew this child and I would be safe.

-Aragorn's POV-

A deep pain fell into my heart as I settled into my bed. Bones said that I needed rest but I didn't know if I could fall asleep at all. I closed my eyes, and as I was about to drift to sleep, I heard my name.

"Aragorn! Aragorn!" the voice seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it. I pushed off the bed onto my feet and headed to the open area of the headquarters. In the middle, not knowing what to do, was Rishardo. I walked over to him with a sudden energy burst in my step. He was holding a child that Bones came and took to the hospital wing to check up on.

"Where's my daughter?" I asked him, close enough for him to hear me. He swung around and I was just about on top of him. He looked at me with eyes that burned so bright, it was beyond magic of my time.

"I'm sorry," he looked at me and I snarled.

"Where-is-my-daughter?"

"She's dead." he said the words coming out sympathetically and threatening at the same time. I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and started shaking him.

"You were supposed to protect her! You were supposed to save her! You said you loved her." the words spat out of my mouth like poison.

"I DO!" he screamed, and pushed me back a full ten feet. His whole body radiated rage, and his hands burned with flames. I had stayed on my feet, and as I caught myself, I looked around. Everyone had stopped what they were doing to watch what was going on. I walked over to Rishardo and punched him in the face. He stumbled back, and wiped his nose. I had made it bleed, badly. He looked at me and roared, a lion's roar... a monster's roar, and charged. With his hand up in a swinging motion, he ran with his flames growing and growing. Before I could react, there was a painful punch in my jut, and I went flipping through the air, and smashing into the window of Sapphire's office. I clutched my side and got up. The flesh was burned and it charred on the edges. Rishardo was panting with rage and walked threateningly over to me. He looked at me for a second, then turned around. There was a sudden presence beside me, and I looked to my side... it was Sapphire.

"It wasn't his fault... it was mine. I gave up my life so he may live, so he may save you. The way I couldn't. Don't push him, he's lost. He spent years using magic, dark magic, to get his way and he's not used to any of this. Show him the way, please Father," Sapphire whispered into my ear, pushing my hair behind my ear. A single tear fell down my cheek, and hit the ground. She knelt down and somehow picked it up. She put it in a flask and put it into her beautiful white dress that she wore. She really did look like an angel.

"I-I don't know what to do," I said to her.

"Show him the light, like you did for me. Let him go, set him free from this spell that binds him to this dark magic," she said, and then she walked over to Rishardo, her bare feet gently gliding over the cement. He looked at her, and the flames disappeared. They exchanged words I couldn't make out and tears that showed clearly something I hadn't understood before. Rishardo took his hand, and placed it on her cheek. Then, their lips collided and they shared a kiss that would be the only one they would ever have in this lifetime. So, they sat there for a few minutes, sharing their last moments together. After they stopped, Sapphire held his hand against her face as she began to grow brighter and brighter. When the light faded, she was gone. Rishardo fell to his knees, the tears flowing down his face so hard, knowing that the one love in his lifetime was dead, and the few minutes he was never supposed to have with her happened, and then they were gone. He held his head down to the ground, and cried.
