Chapter 10: flashbacks

-Joseph's POV-

Her eyes sparkled in front of me as we sat together in the diner. She looked down at her and so did I, every once in a while glancing up at her. Though she acted happy I could tell something was bothering her.

"What are you going to get?" I ask breaking the awkward silence between us.

"The steak medium well with onions and mushrooms on the side" she replied still looking into her menu. I placed it down flat on the table and she looked up.

"So why do you seem so unsure?" I question. She looked down at the menu again and I notice writing in blood on it. Her finger had a cut in it. "Sapphire?"

She started to cry and ran out of the diner. I looked at the menu. Everything ends is all it said.

I woke up blinking in my cell. 'Wow that was weird I thought' but let it go and went back to sleep.

-Sapphire's POV-

Joseph and I were at the park together taking a walk. There were a lot of adults around giving us weird looks like they had never seen a pre-teen before but I let it slide. Yet still the feeling that has been haunting me for at least 5 months is back. I let Joseph get ahead of me a little bit so I could have some space to think. I looked down at my hand and notice that there is a prick on my finger that's bleeding. It is very confusing to me because I don't remember ever getting that. All of a sudden a fearful feeling crept into my head. Something nagged at the corner of my eye and I looked there. By the corner of my eye was a statue... but it wasn't the statue that caught my eye. It was the writing on the statue... it was in blood, my blood. "All ends... maybe sooner than you think, Sapphire" that's what it said.

"Are you ok, Sapphire?" Joseph asked putting his hand on my shoulder. For no reason I had started crying. I held his hand on my shoulder and it all made sense.

I jerked awake and understood everything. The blood writing, and the feeling. I snuck away from the others careful not to wake them up and pulled my hood up. Then I walked to the nearest corner store.

"One notebook. A special notebook." I asked the clerk. He went to the back and brought back a small notebook sized box. Out of that he took a brown, gold bound, and gold locked notebook.

"This is a magic journal" the clerk said bringing out a wand. He tapped the tip of it on the journal and a large S appeared on it.

"How did you...?" I questioned confused at how he knew my name.

"It is ok milady, Sapphire. I know who you are. You can take your hood down now, no one will come here." He said. "My name is Charles Daring"

"Charles?" I asked and he nodded. "Future teller?"

"Yes" he replied "and since I owe the... I.G.B? I thought that I would give this to you, because I know what is coming."

"Thank you" I replied going for the journal.

"Listen" he said "the magic makes it so that only one person of your choice can see the writing but once whats going to happen to you happens you can not see this or know about this until the right time." I nodded my reply.

"Thank you" I said and walked away with the journal.

"Oh, thank you it was a pleasure." He said. I nodded my head and walked to the nearest diner.

I sat down at a table and took out a pen to start writing.

Dear Journal, Day 1

My name is Sapphire Marie Amsal, but by now everyone will know me by Starlis, and you, my reader are Flora Caroline Star. Please don't freak out. I know by now you will not remember me but I need you to start remembering. You are part of a secret organization called the I.G.B which means Invisible Gang business. We are made up of all book, movie, myth, legend, etc. "characters" which are actually real. Our enemy is the Tar Monster or T.M for short. This is his curse on us. I can't really explain what it is because I never heard or saw it happen but I know it is his curse. I must go right now, goodbye and I am so sorry but... I just put you in grave danger. It is you choice to read on or just leave this book to dust up and never be read. The future of the I.G.B lies in your hands.

Sincerely,

Sapphire
