Chapter 36: Our Final Stand (Part 2)
-Sapphire's POV-
Everyone looked at me as if they'd seen a ghost, and I couldn't tell why they were looking at me in such a way. I shakily got up to stand up and look at my surroundings. They all gasped, and I didn't know why they again would do this. I looked down and saw a silver, almost cordlike, wire wrapped around my legs (separately, so I could still walk). It was wrapped around into different patterns and it was then that I realized that it was connected to my skin, with no chance of detachment. This seemed to mean something to the other residents in this heaven, and they gathered around and slowly caressed the silver coil with their fingers. It felt almost like they were accepting me, and something that I was supposed to do, no matter what it was. My mother looked at me from the corner of the room we were in, and there were tears in her eyes. I know instantly what she was thinking. My little girl's all grown up, and she doesn't need me anymore. She smiled at me, then spread her wings and flew away. I didn't know where she was going, but I knew I was never going to see her again. All of a sudden, a dark cloud loomed overhead, and it was like I was the only one that could see it. This paradise seemed to be engulfed by darkness, and then... everything was.
-Kili's POV-
I was running. From what? I was outside and then all of a sudden without even realizing, I had started running. I looked over my shoulder, expecting to see some sort of monster or entity right on my tail, but there was nothing. Yet, it was like darkness was looming over me, engulfing me in its ever growing void. I gasped as I realized what was happening... but how? The connection... it should've been lost. After the... the... incident. But that means... threats? Threats in... heaven? I ran faster and faster, this time with a purpose.
---------------------------------------------------------
I burst through the door into Sapphire's formers office in which Rishardo had taken up current home. He looked up at me in alarm from a large stack of papers that were in front of him. Presumably bills for new equipment.
"Sapphire. Heaven. Danger. Threat. Need. Help." And with that, the room went black. Flames lapped at me from the ground and engulfed me into its burning, consuming mass.
-Rishardo's POV-
Kili dropped onto the ground in front of the desk and I ran to his side. I held his arm up and checked his pulse. Breathing... but struggled and shallow. I looked at his arm that I held in my hand and swallowed back a scream. That light skinned dwarf's skin was charred and black all over his arm. I could see a slight flicker of blue in between the cracks of the char. Satan! What did he want now?! I picked up Kili and heaved him over my shoulders, picking up a run as I headed towards the hospital wing.
"Bones! BONES!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Bones ran out, knowing there was an emergency. He looked at the past out Kili on my shoulder.
"Satan," I whispered, and Bones stepped back in alarm. He looked at the be flames that lapped under the charred skin of this poor dwarf.
"There," Bones whispered weakly, pointing at a bed in the corner. I laid Kili down on the bed, and ruffled his hair a little. I leaned down and kissed his forehead. I could only imagine the pain he was going through. There was only one reason Satan would do this.
"He loved her."
"What?" Bones looked at me, confused.
"I... I have to go. Sapphire's in trouble... BIG trouble," I said. He looked at me, but I couldn't talk. I turned and ran. I slammed my body against the hospital door and bumped into, you guessed it, Aragorn. He looked at me in utter surprise.
"I saw you... with Kili... and I... I... thought the worst,"
"Take care of him, take care of all of them. I'm leaving, protect them," I said to him, and turned back and walked away. He was staring at me in shock, but then ran into the hospital wing. I took off in a run again. I can't stop running, not until I find what I'm looking for, not until I know... until I know she's safe.
"I'm coming to save you Sapphire..."
