Chapter 13: Secret Boyfriend

"Are we seriously all going to Maryland?" Jesse shouts so Annalise and Bernadette can hear her. Bernadette rolls down her window.
"Yes! Now shut your trap!" She shouts back and keeps driving. Jesse puts up her hands in defense and leans back to lay down. Annalise touches Bernadette's arm and Bernadette flinches.
"Uh, you okay Bernadette? You seem a bit jumpy and, you look a bit pale" She asks.
"I'm completely fine, Guess I'm just nervous, obviously with everything that's going on, also because I don't know if anyone will even help us once we get to Maryland, I mean, I've never been before, hell I've never actually been out of Virginia before" Bernadette says quickly.
"It'll be ok, I've been before, people in Maryland are nice!" Annalise reassured her. Bernadette nods and keeps driving with one hand while her bandaged hand is in her lap. Annalise sits back in the seat and falls asleep after 30 more minutes of driving, Jesse has also fallen asleep so now it's just Benjamin and Bernadette who are awake. Bernadette smiles slightly when seeing Annalise sleeping so peacefully, she leans over and kisses Annalise on the forehead, then turns her attention back to the road.

"AGH SHIT-" Bernadette serves the car and slams the breaks so she doesn't hit someone, it's not just any someone, it's an actually person, they are clearly not infected, but they're hurt. It's a guy who looks around their age, tall, maybe 5'11, 6 foot? Bright green eyes and dark brown hair, standing in the middle of the road. The serve wakes up both Annalise and Jesse.
"The hell bernie?!" Jesse yells.
"Hey Bernadette why did you swerve?" Benjamin asks as Bernadette jumps out the war along with Annalise.
"Look, another high-schooler in the road" Bernadette points to the guy who is waving to them.
"Who?" Annalise asks and squints at the guy. Benjamin slowly gets off the car takes a few steps forward.
"Archie?" He says softly.
"Who's Archie?" Jesse scoffs.
"Archie!" Benjamin sprints towards the guy and grabs his hands, looking up at him due to Benjamin being about 5'7.
"Ok...what the friggin hell is happening?!" Jesse stomps her foot.
"It's my boyfriend!" Benjamin says happily and walks back to everyone.
Annalise and Bernadette's jaws both drop at the same time. Once they both walk back over, Bernadette punches Benjamin in the arm.
"Why didn't you tell us you had a boyfriend and we would've looked for him you little gay?!" Bernadette laughs and Annalise leads Archie over to the back of the car and starts bandaging his shin and his right hand.
"I thought he was dead! I didn't see him running out the school and he was suppose to be in the class next to mine" Benjamin explains.
"Still! I wouldn't have left the school grounds if I couldn't find Jesse or Annalise!" Bernadette says. Annalise chuckles.
"Bernadette don't grill him!" She says. Bernadette rolls her eyes with a smirk and they all stand at the back of the car.
"Look babe, If I'm totally honest, I thought you where dead too, I've been looking for you" Archie says. Annalise Awe's and Benjamin shoves her.
"Wait wait, but I checked your class, how come you weren't in there when the bomb went off?" Benjamin asks. Archie inhales sharply through his teeth,
"I kinda skipped that class" he confesses.
"Archie! If you weren't hurt right now I would hit you! How many times have I told you? Stop skipping!" Benjamin says.
"Well I didn't expect a bomb to go off!" Archie says and Benjamin rolls his eyes and folds his arms. Annalise smiles.
"Well I'm glad you've been reunited. We're all planning to go to Maryland, you want to join us Archie, is it?" Annalise asks.
"Yes it is and, I'd love to" Archie nods.
"Wait wait wait" Jesse shakes her head.
"You're all really just gunna let this **stranger** Come with us?" She asks.
"He's not a stranger! He's my boyfriend Jesse!" Benjamin says, clearly frustrated and annoyed.
"Jesse how about you stop expelling your pent up homophobia for once and suck it up like a big girl?" Bernadette scoffs. Jesse gasps.
"I'm not homophobic! My sister is literally a lesbian!" She says.
"That doesn't make you supportive just because your sister is gay. Benjamin says.
"No one asked you Benjamin!" jesse snaps.
"Damn, this one's a bitch" Archie chuckles.
"We know" Bernadette mutters.
"Hey by the way, if you guys want, I can drive?" Archie says.
"FINALLY! Oh my god these people don't drive! To be fair though, I wouldn't want Annalise to drive considering she can't see over the dash board half the time" Bernadette smirks.
"Bernadette!" Annalise shoves Bernadette.
"Not my fault shortie" Bernadette says and ruffles Annalise's hair. Annalise smacks Bernadette's hand and Bernadette laughs. Jesse rolls her eyes and climbs into the back of the car. Benjamin and Archie go into the front of the car, Archie in the drivers seat and Bernadette and Annalise climb into the back as well. With one more person added to the group, that makes five on their way to Maryland.
