Chapter 27: The night fight

With Bernadette and Annalise in the front, and an empty space with the rest of the gang in the back, they're on the road again. Annalise is staring out the hole in the car because there's no longer a passenger seat door.
"We'll get through this I promise" Bernadette says.
"His own project blew up in his face..and now I can't believe he's gone. I'm an orphan Bernadette" Annalise sighs and leans her head against the seat.
"An actual orphan..."
"I know..." Bernadette says softly.
"If it makes you feel any better, you'll always have me..you'll always have us. Benjamin, Jesse, Archie, Daisy..apparently. You'll always have us" Bernadette adds. Annalise smiles weakly and nods.

"Thank you..for helping us Daisy. Annalise needed that. I think we all did" Archie says. Jesse and Benjamin both nod in agreement. Daisy smiles at them and then she starts examining her arrow heads.
"So...Why don't you talk?" Benjamin asks her. Jesse smacks his arm.
"Uh dude?! Insensitive much?" She says. Daisy grabs Jesse's hand so she doesn't hit Benjamin again. Daisy then shrugs at Benjamin.
"Can you speak? Like is it a choice?" Benjamin asks. Daisy does a thumbs up, meaning she can speak just fine. Benjamin smiles and then he turns around. He shuts his eyes.
"Whatcha doing?" Archie asks.
"Shhh...I'm trying to get the hang of this future telling thing" Benjamin whispers.
"How can you even tell the future? Surely that's gotta be something you inherit" Jesse says.
"I mean, I was adopted so..." Benjamin whispers.
"Wait what?" Archie says.
"Yeah, That's why I could tell that Daisy was a bit uncomfortable when you brought up parents and how she must have one who's alive because she's B-negative blood type because I used to get the same exact look on my face when people brought up anything about inheriting things off of parents" Benjamin explains.
"Anyway be quiet. I'm trying to concentrate" He adds. Daisy smiles at him.

"We're gunna have to hijack a new car...it's too dangerous without a passenger door, I don't even like the thought of you sitting in that seat right now" Bernadette says. Annalise rolls her eyes.
"I'm fine Bernadette" She says.
"I disagree" Bernadette says. Annalise sighs.
"I hope you'll be ok..if you need hope to hold on to then think about the fact that we'll get out of here?" Bernadette says. Annalise looks annoyed.
"Uh.." Bernadette goes quiet.
"Yea we'll get out of here without my fucking dad" Annalise says, annoyed.
"Woah why are you getting annoyed at me?" Bernadette asks.
"Because you're acting like everything is going to be fine even though I don't have a dad or a mum anymore!" Annalise yells.
"Annalise don't yell at me...please? I know what you mean, I don't have my mum and dad either.." Bernadette says.

The sky starts getting dark so Bernadette parks the car in amongst some trees to try and hide from zombies. Daisy, Archie, Jesse and Benjamin are all laying down in the back of the car. After about 4 hours. Everyone is asleep apart from Bernadette and Annalise. They are laying awake. Bernadette grabs an old bed sheet at her feet and gets out the car. Annalise is in an angry silence. Bernadette Starts covering the hole where the car door was with the sheet.
"Yeah like that'll help" Annalise scoffs.
"You got a better idea short-stack?" Bernadette says quickly.
"Ugh shut up Bernadette" Annalise says.
"C'mon bunny..what the hell did I do to you?" Bernadette asks. Annalise steps out the car.
"Nothing! That's the problem! There's not a mark on me because you're so obsessed with protecting me! Yet my dad is dead!" Annalise says.
"What the fuck are you even implying Annalise?! What- that I didn't **try** hard enough to save your dad? Wow..ok" Bernadette says and looks up at the sky for a second with her arms folded.
"No I didn't mean..it's just- well- I didn't say that exactly!" Annalise snaps.
"Well you're not..**not** saying it!?" Bernadette yells back.
"I just don't get how you can be so good at making sure I don't get a scratch yet you couldn't save my dad from one! one zombie!"Annalise explains.
"Yeah, a zombie that was headless! I was caught off guard, I didn't expect it to get back up?!" Bernadette says.
Bernadette and Annalise continue shouting at each other, the others have surprisingly not woke back up.
