Chapter 21: Crazy Warner?

Bernadette cooks up some food and hands it out to everybody around the fire. Archie is whispering to Benjamin and Benjamin has his hand over his mouth in shock.
"What're you two whispering about?" Annalise asks. Archie gives her a smug look and she realizes exactly what they are talking about.
"Oh my god Archie!!" She yells.
"It's ok, Y'know Benjamin can keep a secret" Archie chuckles and dodges the stick that Annalise threw at him. Bernadette raises one eyebrow and sits back down.
"What's...the secret?" Bernadette asks. Annalise panics.
"Nothing, nothing at all" She says with a nervous smile.
"Ok?" Bernadette says.
"Then what was the funny supermarket story you wanted to share?" Bernadette asks Jessie. Jesse smirks and Archie and Benjamin go quiet.
"So Annalise realized that Benjamin and Archie weren't with the rest of us, So I told Annalise and her dad to go back out to the car..." Jesse chuckles and continues the story, by the time she finished the story, Bernadette is broken with laughter.
"what?! Yo I love you guys but there's a time and a place!" Bernadette jokes. Benjamin rolls his eyes and chuckles.
"At least I have a someone to get caught kissing" He says.
"Whatever short-ass" Bernadette smirks. Benjamin's jaw drops. Annalise folds her arms.
"Bernadette you can't just go around calling everyone short because you're a giant!" She says.
"I can and I will" Bernadette grins. Archie laughs.
"Ooo~ trouble in paradise?" Archie says.
"Shut up supermarket kisser" Jesse buts in.

Soon enough, the nighttime kicks in and the sky goes properly dark. Annalise's dad stomps the fire out and everyone climbs into the car. Archie, Annalise, Benjamin and Annalise's dad in the back,Bernadette and Jesse in the front.

Bernadette is looking out the front windshield and Jesse is half asleep.
"Bernie shut your eyes, that eye colour of yours is like a damn flashlight in the dark.." She mumbles and rolls in her seat. Bernadette puts her arms behind her head and closes her eyes. Everyone in the back of the car is asleep apart from Annalise's dad. He is muttering to himself and writing in a notebook. Bernadette can hear him, she can hear the sound of his pencil scratching on the paper as he writes down all of his dark thoughts.
"Surely there can't only be one..one..how do I fix it all how do I experiment with it..Annalise would never let me her mother would never let me her mother is hating me from the beyond I don't understand how there is only one surely it was all or nothing..I built the bomb it doesn't make sense..." He continues to repeat these lines to himself over and over and over until he finally stops. The pencil scratching the surface of the paper stops and Bernadette can hear his breathing..
"Yes...I know now what to do..this is what is wanted...." He chuckles and smiles up at the sky. Bernadette looks down.
"Annalise's dad is bat-shit crazy..that's great" She whispers to herself and stays awake for the rest of the night, trying not to listen to the intense mutter of Warner winters, Annalise's father.

Soon enough the sun brightens the sky and Everyone wakes up. Bernadette, already being awake, was making everybody breakfast. Jesse and Annalise are the first ones to get up, soon followed by Benjamin and Archie. They all sit in a circle in the field with Bernadette.
"Couldn't sleep again?" Annalise asks Bernadette.
"Not really bunny" Bernadette sighs.
"Gave me a chance to make breakfast though" Bernadette passes some portions of food out to everyone.
"Hey where's your dad?" Bernadette asks.
"Uhh..I think he's still in the car sleeping" Annalise says. Bernadette nods.
"I don't know about you guys but I want to do something fun!" Benjamin says.
"Fun? We're in the middle of a zombie Apocalypse dummy" Jesse scoffs.
"Just woke up and the first thing you say is Negative. Wow" Benjamin laughs.
"Anyway, What I meant is that we should all do that thing in the movies where the characters all go get makeovers in the middle of a zombie Apocalypse for no reason" Benjamin suggests.
"Mean c'mon, Jesse you're shirt is a bit ripped, me and Archie's clothes are dirty, Annalise's hoodie-"
"My hoodie actually" Bernadette smirks. Benjamin chuckles.
"Well..the hoodie that Annalise is wearing has zombie blood on it..Ew, and I don't think your whole outfit goes with pumpkin eyes Bernadette. Maybe a witch costume would be better?" Benjamin grins.
"Haha very funny, but I think my outfit matching my eyes is the least of my priorities" Bernadette says.
"Well everyone else has a reason to grab some new clothes so you may as well get some too! C'mon please?" Benjamin whines.
"I think we all know Benjamin won't shut up until he gets what he wants so...?" Jesse says. Bernadette rolls her eyes and looks at Annalise.
"I say let's go for it" Annalise smiles. Bernadette grins at Annalise.
"fine then, makeover it is" Bernadette says.

"No no no, nu-uh, are you all dumb? That's not happening" Warner appears out of nowhere. Annalise is walking towards the car and shoves his chest.
"Sorry dad but it's not your choice, you killed mum, you don't get a say in this" She climbs into the car. Bernadette gets in the drivers seat and Archie grabs Warner and shoves him into the back of the car before Archie gets into the passengers seat...and on the road they go.
