Chapter 17: supermarket

Annalise gasps when she sees Bernadette's bright orange eyes. Annalise's dad stares at Bernadette before taking a deep breath.
"Bernadette calm down, Remember that one of the affects of the super powers makes you a bit more...irrational" he says. Bernadette pushes him harder into the shelf.
"Don't tell me all your emotion, aggressive shit! My eyes where blue! Now they're on the whole ass opposite side of the colour spectrum!" She shouts.
"It, must just be a side affect of whatever super power you end up gaining, it's clearly getting closer to materializing" He says. Bernadette stares daggers through him. Annalise gently grabs her arm.
"C'mon Bernadette, let him go, for me?" She asks. Bernadette stares down at Annalise and her look slowly softens before she shoves the dad away and reluctantly lets him go.
"Fine, I guess I'll just be the new mascot for Halloween itself" she shrugs.
"Oh come on it's not that bad Bernie, you're being dramatic" Jesse appears out of no where.
"I have orange eyes! I look like a Halloween costume!" Bernadette says. Annalise let's go of Bernadette.
"Anyway...Since we're all here, let's split up and look for supplies" Archie claps his hands.
"Nah I'm good, someone has to look after the car anyway..." Bernadette mumbles and walks back out the supermarket.
"Right. Then we will all spilt up and look for supplies then yea?" Archie adds. Everyone agrees and then Archie, Annalise and Benjamin go down one way, while Jesse and the dad go down the opposite direction.

"Do you guys think Bernadette is ok?" Annalise says.
"She's gaining super powers from a blood-type bomb. This isn't a marvel movie, she'll have actual side effects of course, but it's not your fault" Benjamin says.
"Why are you asking? Are you worried about her?" Archie smirks and nudges Annalise.
"Well i care about how she is.." Annalise says.
"Yeah Bernadette said that too" Archie responds.
"Bernadette said she cares about me?" Annalise asks, a bit surprised.
"Are you kidding?! Bernadette has properly spoke to you for less than a school week and she seems ready to take a bullet or a zombie bite for you! it's intense" Benjamin says quickly.
"Really? I mean she is really nice and we've became friends fast which is a bit weird considering her sister has bullied me for years but oh well" Annalise chuckles.
"What made her bring that up anyway?" She asks Archie. Archie scratches the front of his neck.
"Nothing, we where just chatting about the little band we've all seen to put together, that's all" He lies. Benjamin can immediately tell that his boyfriend is lying but decides to stay quiet.
Annalise nods her head and smiles weakly and then continues down the aisle and starts grabbing lots of fruits and vegetables. Benjamin and Archie disappear down a different food aisle.

"Hey babe do you think Annalise and Bernadette like each other?" Archie asks.
"Bernadette is definitely whipped over Annalise, I think Annalise is interested too but she's surprisingly harder to read. She's just sweet to everyone so it's hard to tell who she's giving special treatment Y'know?" Benjamin says. Archie nods and picks up a few water bottles out the fridge.
"That's fair, did you notice how Bernadette calmed down instantly when Annalise told her too though? But Annalise's dad only made her a angrier when he told her to calm it" He points out.
"Oh my god yeah! That's just another reason why I think Bernadette really likes Annalise. Annalise is like some sort of emotional stabilizer for Bernadette" Benjamin chuckles.
"Anyway how's the injuries holding up?" He asks.
"Mhm, good, healing pretty quickly, I'm lucky I'm not dead considering I'm not B negative" Archie says.
"I'm glad you're ok.." Benjamin smiles. Archie smiles back and leans down a bit.

Jesse and Annalise's dad are walking in silence down an aisle of cakes. The dad is grabbing a few different cake options.
"The sugar will be good for a quick energy boost" He says while staring at multiple boxes of different flavored cupcakes. Jesse stays silent as a mouse with her arms crossed and a sour expression.
"Why the face? We're making it through" he asks her.
"Why the face? The face is because you're expecting me to act normal and nice with you when you're one of the main culprits of this whole thing! You're the reason my friends are dead! You're the reason there's hundreds of zombies trying to kill us! AND YOU! Are the reason that MY sister is going through some sort of fucked up genetic experiment!" She shouts at him.
"You are a horrible person and I don't even like Annalise at all but even I can feel sympathy for her because you seem like a horrible father to have to deal with! You killed her mum with your dumb blood bomb! I'm shocked she hasn't flew off the handle yet! Hell, i should applaud her for that because if I was her I'd be going crazy!" Jesse continues. Annalise's dad clenches his jaw and sighs in an annoyed tone and then he speaks rationally and calmly.
"I know..I know, and I'm sorry for your loss, and trust me, I'm surprised at how forgiving my daughter is too-" he gets cut off.
"I've not forgave you dad" Annalise buts in and walks down the hall.
"But you're the only one who knows all about what's going on with Bernadette and I for one would like to keep her alive and kicking so you're simply the super power mutation info booklet of the group" Annalise explains. Jesse looks at Annalise and nods a bit.
"Uh..grab the blueberry muffins they're mine and Bernie's favorites" She mumbles. Annalise smiles softly and nods before grabbing a box of the muffins and picking up the bag of fruit and veg she has. Annalise's dad looks at Annalise with an annoyed stare and then they continue walking down the aisles.
