Nilfred wakes up from his deep sleep — he finds himself sleeping in a room in total darkness. He goes up and wonders his eyes around. It is not their house, it is someone’s house. He rubs his eyes and it doesn’t feel hot nor warm anymore. He moves to go down and the bed squeaks — his feet can’t reach the floor since the bed’s too high for him about the height of a double decker but it is only one bed. He goes to the bed once again, places a pillow on the ground and jumps on it. He is successfully on the ground and searches for the window. Then, he finds the window under the bed and opens it. It is noon already, he can see their house on the opposite side of the lake and many people are helping to fix it. He sits there and stares at everyone.

The winter has passed and fortunately no blizzard came. Many children around the area are playing on the snow but Nilfred is not interested. Other people are beside the lake and crushing the ice that covered it. After a while, Nilfred smells delicious food and he is attracted to it. He goes down to the window, opens the door and accidentally bumped into a  girl, who is also around his age. The girl falls to the ground and hits her hand.

“Ouch! It hurts! My hand!” The girl cried and shouted. Nilfred goes to her but he is pushed away. The girl stands up and runs to her room on the next door, resulting in Nilfred not having a chance to say sorry to her. He would like to go to the door and knock but he didn’t — he didn't want to make a big fuss about it, he also thought that the girl did not fall extremely hard.

Nilfred just goes downstairs and heads to the kitchen room where a man around his twenties is cooking. Nilfred hides on the side due to embarrassment — he is not good at interacting with people he barely knows or haven’t met before. He sits there and waits for the man while holding his hungry tummy. The man looks on the side and knows that Nilfred is there. He gets a bowl and pours in a warm chicken soup. He places the soup on the tray to get a spoon, grabs it and goes to the side of Nilfred.

“Are you hungry?” The man asked Nilfred. Nilfred is surprised and accidentally hits his head from behind. The man quickly places down the soup and goes to him and checks his head if there’s a wound, fortunately, there is nothing. The man carries Nilfred to the dining area and sits him in the chair. He has blackish blue hair, an almond-shaped eyes, a six feet tall man, and wearing a cloud-shaped earring on his right ear. He goes back to the kitchen side and grabs the soup and brings it to Nilfred.

Nilfred is too shy to eat, staring at the food while holding to the sides of the chair tightly. The man sits beside him but he is not looking at him, he is looking outside the window. “Aren’t you going to eat it? It’s going to become cold.” The man said.

“Y-yes. I am going to eat this.” He said while being too shy.

“That’s good then.” He said without showing any emotions.

Nilfred starts to eat the soup and he likes it. “It’s good.” He said to himself and continued eating it.

    “About what happened earlier.”

    “Eh? I am fine-”

The man cut him off. “Not that one. Earlier, Shina cried.”

“Uhm…” Nilfred doesn't know what to say and he sweats.

“Don’t be tense. I am not going to reprimand you whatsoever.” Still, he is talking in a monotonous way.

“I actually bumped into her earlier and she hit her hand.” Nilfred said nervously and he looked like he was going to run away. He doesn’t even look at him.

“I see… What’s your name?” The man asked Nilfred and he was surprised and coughed out the soup.

“Are you really okay?” The man asked Nilfred.

“Yes yes don’t worry.” Nilfred said as he wiped out his mouth. “Ehem.” He clears his voice before going to speak. “I am Nilfred Murai.”

“Murai, huh? That family who is most likely associated with the spiritual beings bestowed by the deity. You know the girl that you bumped into earlier with?”

Nilfred is intrigued to know something about her.

“She’s actually a distant relative of your bloodline. The Rai family, they omitted the Mu since their ability is just being able to travel in the Otherworld.”

“Eh?! Really?!” Nilfred looks up to him. “I-It’s so cool!”

“You hold the Soul Magic, right?”

    “Yeah. Why?”

“You are the bridge between this world and the Otherworld.”

    “Really? I-I am so cool!”

“That’s the reason why you reincarnated the Phoenix. Now, it might be traveling the Otherworld with a living body.”

They are still not done talking with each other and suddenly get interrupted by Slyiah as she enters the room.

“Nilfred, you may go to your room now. The house is fixed. I can’t really believe that they are lightning fast!”

Nilfred goes down to the chair and heads to the door. Before leaving, he says a few words to the man. “Uhm… Can we continue this when I come back once again?”

    “Sure. I don’t mind.”

    “You are…”

    “Lance. That is my name.”

“Got it! Lance!” Nilfred said as he smiled brightly like sunshine. His embarrassed and shy self has melted away. He then goes to the boat beside the lake and hops on it to travel back to their house. Using the magic of the people, the ice are fully dissolved now. They changed their minds to just simply crush it.

Meanwhile, Slyiah goes to the table and sits on the opposite side of Lance. “You are really a monotonous person.”

“When did I not become a monotonous guy?” He said and it irritated Slyiah. “This guy really is getting on my nerves every time I try to talk to him.” She said to herself.

“By the way. I am surprised you took care of him. You really don’t want to socialize. You have to practice how to use magic.” She said as she grabbed the unfinished soup of Nilfred and ate it.

“I don’t want to. But what can I do? He’s here because of him and you.”

    “Because of me?! Why?!”

“You literally knocked down the door of my room, kicked me out of my own bed, and placed him on my own bed. That’s why I had to sleep in the living room while thinking if I will wake up tomorrow and survive the cold.”

“Oh yeah… I am so sorry… Let’s change the topic, you have to practice using your magic.”

    “I don’t want to.”

    “Why not? You are Equilibria!”

“Shut up. I don’t want to hear it. If you don’t have anything to say you may now leave.”

“Hmp!” Slyiah stands up. “Fine! I will leave!” She says in front of him and walks away out of the house and closes the door loudly.

    “She’s really a persistent woman.”

Nilfred goes upstairs and is in front of the girl's room. He knocked three times but no one answered. He tries to turn the knob but it is locked. “What is she doing?”

He then goes to his room and grabs the spare key to open the door. As soon as he enters the room, she is not there.

“She might be in the Otherworld again.” He then sighed and sat on it. He forgot the time and slept there for two hours, still, the girl hasn’t come back.

He goes downstairs to go outside and stroll for a little while. He changes his shirt, pants, and wears comfortable footwear. After that, he goes out, locks the door, and starts to walk around the lake. After a while, he sees many people are gathering in front of a house on the other side of the lake and all of them seem to be looking at something.

“What’s happening over there?” He asked himself and he seemed to be intrigued too. “I am going to check what is happening there.”
