Chapter 26 - Living or Nonliving

The battle at the city ended now and the sun shines throughout the city, harmonizing to the smokes. But the chaos has not ended yet, the confusion of the sudden disappearance of the monsters makes the crowd go wild.

    "What just happened?!"

    "Where did they go?!"

    "Is someone controlling those?!"

    "It's impossible that they just ran away! Where are they?!"

To stop the chaos among the people, Vince speaks up.

    "Can you all shut your mouth?! It is unclear how they just disappeared. This thing is going to be discussed by us. If you have any clues, tell your captains. For now, some of you are going to stay in this city for quite a while as this city is gonna be fixed."

The sunlight touches the face of Kanku as she looks up from the sky above and remembers her past while holding the hands of Floryn.

Kanku's PoV: "It's been years since the tragedy of my family… I find myself in the hands of a man as we walk outside the door of our house. I couldn't see him clearly since my eyes were beat… but he has another one besides him… a kid. I just woke up in a room. I got up to sit and I opened the window. I am in a building, but not in a hospital. He comes into my room but I couldn't see his face clearly and talks to me.

    "Did you get a good sleep?"

His voice is calming and makes me at ease.

    "Y-yes…"

    "Would you mind telling me your name?"

    "My…name… is Kanku…"

    "Oh, I see. Kanku. Good morning."

After telling my name I didn't answer his questions. I don't if I couldn't hear him or I wasn't paying attention.

    "You don't need to push yourself too hard. I know losing your loved ones hurts. But I know it will heal… someday."

I was about to say something to him but he had already left the room. I didn't even get his name… But I know we will cross paths… one day…"

Tears started flowing on Kanku's eyes which caught the attention of Floryn.

    "M-miss… are you… okay?.."

She wipes down her tears and says, "Y-Yes! I'm okay! Are you okay?! You must be really tired from healing everyone!"

    "Y-yes… just a little tired… I guess…"

    "Then rest! By the way, good morning!" Kanku said with a gentle and warm smile.

    "G-good morning." Floryn smiles back.

The members of the squads walked back inside the city until one of the guys shouted and caught the attention of everyone.

They quickly rushed to the voice where it was coming and they were shocked about what they saw.

    "T-the monsters are frozen!"

    "Does someone have ice magic in here?!"

Bell rushed to the scene to tell that it was her doing.

    "I'm the one. I turned those monsters into frozen."

    "Let's bring these monsters to the warehouse in Tech City."
