[POV CHANGE | KAT RIDE]

I shift my weight impatiently as I wait for Finn to arrive, my fingers twitching and pulling nervously at my sleeves as I lean my back against the brick wall behind me carefully, attempting to blend in with the object despite the impracticality of the thought. I let out a sigh as I let my mind wander, head spinning with the last bit of events from the day before,

I shift slightly as I walk side-by-side with Lance, our steps in sync as we slowly head back towards campus, the journey there holding a peaceful silence as Gazzy swings our intertwined hands. There was a little skip to his step as we moved, Lance's and my hands brushing against each other as we move.

I remain quiet despite the small jolt I felt when he fully encases my hand in his. "Thank you both for coming today." His voice came out calm, the tone of his voice shaking slightly as the words spilled out. "It was our pleasure." My response is followed with a smile to the boy, Lance returning it slowly as Gazzy pipes up next, "It was fun! Anna is really nice! She reminds of Angel."

I see the boy quirk a brow at that, the silent question making me let out an airy chuckle as I respond, "She's the youngest of us, Gazzy's biological sister." His grip on my hand tightens at those words, his head moving in way of a nod as he speaks up once more, "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure you'll see Angel again."

His words held a promise within them, my heart aching as I hear the sentence spill from his lips. "Thank you, I'm sure we will too." I squeeze his hand slightly as we finally make it back to Easton, my feet shifting once more as I release Lance's hand from my grasp and pull Gazzy into a tight hug. "I won't be able to bring you with me to Regro and Mash's house, you'll have to stay with Headmage Wahlberg, but I'll be seeing you in four days, okay?"

I hold my brother tightly into my chest, the boy nodding stiffly before pulling away, face flushed from embarrassment. "I'm not a little kid...I'll be okay." He mutters out his words with a huff, a small smile etched onto his face as I return the expression hesitantly. "Be good, no blowing things up without permission." I wave as he darts off, the boy rushing towards his lodgings with Headmaster Wahlberg as I remain in my spot, watching him carefully as he goes.

"I don't understand why we can't just stick together." My words come out as a huff, Lance and I continuing on to Adler Dorms to gather our belongings before heading to our respective homes. "They're trying to keep you scared and in check, but I'm sure Headmage Wahlberg won't let anything happen to Gazzy." I glance over at the blue haired teen beside me at those words, my head moving to formulate a nod as I gnaw on my bottom lip.

"Yeah, you're right... Sorry, it's just hard for me to trust people with authority." I let out another airy chuckle at my own words, the sound bitter as we continue side-by-side. "You have no reason to apologize." His words were firm as he responded, the atmosphere slightly tense we make it to the Adler Portal.

"You're really good at taking care of others, thank you." My words are muttered absentmindedly, the sound of his breath hitching making me turn and fill my right eye with the sight of slightly pink cheeks and widened blue eyes. "Lance...?" The usage of his name makes him falter once more, the boy soon grabbing my wrist and wrapping his arms around me in a hug of his own.

"I will...never let anyone hurt you or your family again." His promise rings in my ears as he holds me close, my arms slowly lifting to return the embrace as he buries his head into the crook of my neck.
