[THIRD PERSON POV]
In a certain suburb in the realm of magic.
"Extra! Extra!"
A man shouts along the street, waving a newspaper in one hand as he carried with him a basket filled with more. He looked upset and panicked as he walked along the street, voices of other citizens entering his ears as they all looked over the newspapers he was selling to the crowds, "Hey, come on there's no way!" One male spoke, tightening his grip around the paper as another speaks up beside him, "Easton would never do this!" The top of the excerpt read, a picture of Mash Burnedead and Kat Ride on the front as someone cried out in anger as they looked at the top of the paper, "This is serious!"
«Prestigious academy nominates two lackmagics for visionary?!»
Meanwhile, back with Mash, Dot, Lance, Abyss, Abel and Kat the group of teens were tiredly sitting on the bed after playing B.S. for 15 hours straight. Lance was sitting completely still as Kat rested her head on his shoulder, her eyes shut as she slept peacefully against him. Admittedly, it made him feel proud to be her choice of a pillow and he couldn't help the smug look he sent to the others when he noticed their occasional jealous glances. "Five." Abyss spoke calmly, placing a card down slowly until both Mash and Dot pointed at him in rebuttal, "B.S!!!"
Lance tensed when he felt Kat shift slightly from the loud noise, Abel sat off to the side and just watching the present commotion with disinterest. "How long are you three going to keep playing?" Lance spoke softly, attempting not to rouse the girl sleeping on his shoulder as Dot responds bluntly, "Our dignity is riding on this card game, okay?! So butt out, siscon!" Lance narrowed his eyes at the loud way of speaking, hissing out at the redhead in response, "Got a death wish?"
"Too tired, quitting now." Mash spoke next, shocking Dot completely as he turned to eye his black haired friend, Abyss following suit calmly, "I'm also tired, so I'll quit too." Dot felt tense as his fingers twitched at those response, his voice coming out weakly, "Huh? Was it...just me...? Okay..." He felt defeated and called out for their lackluster responses, jumping slightly when the door behind him gets flung open and slams against the wall. Finn was at the door, breathing heavily as he shouted out into the room, "Mash, Kat, we've got trouble! Come quickly!"
The sudden words made Mash turn while jolting Kat awake, the girl sitting straight up as she asks in a hurry, "What?! What happened, who died?!" She was breathing heavily as she stared directly at Finn, the dual hair coloured teen tilting his head to the side slightly before stuttering out, "N-No one...yet?" Kat nodded once, as if appearing to understand the situation, before she rose to her feet with Mash, the pair following after Finn to where he needed them to be. Dot, Lance, Abyss and Abel followed the three as well, wondering what the commotion was about until they arrived at room with large windows, where Lemon was waiting anxiously.
"Look outside..." Finn manages out, fingers fidgeting with each other as he moves to draw the curtains. Outside stood a large hoard of people, all shouting and angry as they yelled up at their school building, "Give us Mash Burnedead and Kat Ride!!! What do you mean they're magicless?!?!" Mash and Kat glanced over at each other as those words reached their ears, Mash muttering softly, "This is..." The anger was almost suffocating despite the pair not being outside to fully feel it, but just the shouting and angered looks made Kat grit her teeth and clench her hands into fists.
"You can't have a Lackmagic at the top magic academy!" Someone shouted out, raising a fist into the air as he let known his anger, "Mash Burnedead and Kat Ride need to be punished according to the law!" A female mage cried out, pointing an angry finger to the windows as another male with a pointed hat shouted even louder as he tried to press through the crowd, "You're giving those with blighted blood a platform at god's holy festival?! That's sacrilegious!!" Finn glanced over at his two friends nervously, noticing how Kat began to tremble in anger as Mash eyed the situation with an appearance of calm and he couldn't help but let his thoughts wander. 'Oh no, they're too worked up...and Kat can be unpredictable when she's mad.'
