- "Father, I have joined a handcrafts club at school." Kaiya informed her father.
As they sat in the kitchen, eating dinner, the routine of their new life settled in. Each morning, her father ensured she attended school, guarding against her brother's influence and the allure of her former friends. They shared dinners together almost every night, a quiet, tense affair. Kaiya made sure to prepare tea for both her and her father each evening, a measure to divert suspicion on the nights when she slipped sleeping pills into his cup. It was a delicate dance, keeping up appearances while plotting her escape.
- "What need would a future surgeon have for a handcrafts club?" Her father's question raised an eyebrow, his demeanor growing increasingly agitated. Why would his daughter engage in such a trivial extracurricular activity?
- "I read a scientific study online that claimed that handcrafts were a good way of developing the fine motor skills which are crucial for a surgeon." Kaiya answered with a polite smile.
- "It is a good thing that you are thinking about your future." Her father's words rang with a tone of pride, reflecting his satisfaction in seeing his daughter behaving responsibly and showing dedication to her studies and future prospects.
Kaiya smiled looking at her father. Deep down, she knew that her true motivations for joining the club lay elsewhere, particularly in her desire to spend time with Mitsuya. Yet, she had become adept at navigating her father's expectations and manipulating his perceptions to align with her own desires. As long as she continued to play the role of the dutiful daughter, she could maintain some semblance of control over her own life.
- "I knew it was a good idea to take you away from your mother and brother." Her father smirked.
Kaiya forced a smile, concealing her inner turmoil beneath a mask of compliance. Deep down, she seethed with frustration at her father's arrogance and ignorance toward her feelings. How could he believe that she was content without her twin brother by her side? How could he possibly think that she would forgive him for tearing her away from Kazutora? The thought of living without her brother's support and companionship filled her with a deep sense of loss and longing. Yet, she remained silent, suppressing her emotions and biding her time, knowing that challenging her father's perceptions would only lead to more conflict and tension.
With a steely resolve, Kaiya made a silent vow to herself. "One day, I will make you pay for everything you've done to us," she whispered, her voice barely audible even to her own ears. Though her words were spoken in the quiet recesses of her mind, they carried a weight of determination and defiance. She refused to remain passive in the face of her father's injustices, knowing that one day she would find a way to confront him and seek retribution for the pain he had caused her and her brother.
Kaiya arrived at the handcrafts club after school, greeted by the familiar faces of Mitsuya, Pah-chin, and Peh-yan (Ryohei Hayashi). They engaged in lively conversation, discussing the latest events from Tokyo Manji Gang.
The door creaked open and a girl with black hair styled in braids and a choppy fringe cautiously peered into the room. Her eyes widened in alarm as she caught sight of three boys with menacing expressions, accompanied by a strikingly beautiful girl. Feeling a surge of fear, she instinctively turned to flee, contemplating whether to call for help. Perhaps the girl with the captivating yellow eyes was also in danger. Before she could make a decision, Mitsuya and Kaiya emerged from the room, offering friendly greetings that momentarily eased her apprehension.
- "I'm Mitsuya Takashi and she is Hanemiya Kaiya. Nice to meet you. Did we scare ya? My friends are very rude." Mitsuya spoke in a calm and reassuring tone, hoping to help the girl relax as she seemed visibly tense and apprehensive.
