Kaiya had no idea that Ryusei had been missing for a week. Between school and spending time with her cousin Akira and her aunt, she hadn't even found the time to meet with the guys from the First Division. She was in the living room with Akira, watching a movie, when her phone rang. She picked it up, and her heart filled with joy when she saw Keisuke's number flashing on the screen. Akira noticed her face light up and was ready to tease her after the call.
- "Kaiya," she heard Keisuke's voice, sounding unsettled. "Do you know anything about Ryusei? Has he contacted you this week?"
- "He visited me at school about a week ago," Kaiya replied, starting to feel concerned. "He seemed a bit off, but he said it was nothing. He was his usual flirty self most of the time."
- "He visited you?" Keisuke asked, surprised.
- "Yeah, he was waiting for me after school. We walked a bit, and I took the opportunity to ask him about Yotsuya Kaidan. He seemed sad and a bit angry beneath his usual cheerful demeanor. The only thing he told me was that some things never die," Kaiya explained, her concern growing.
- "Try to call him, please. If he doesn't answer, then we really need to worry," Keisuke said before ending the call.
Akira, who had been ready to tease her, saw the concern on her face and decided to stay silent. Kaiya called Ryusei several times, but there was no answer. She even sent him messages expressing her concern and asking him to call her as soon as he saw them.
She started to pace around the room, thinking.
- "What happened, Kaiya-chan?" Akira asked, concerned.
- "One of my friends disappeared a week ago," she replied, pausing for a moment before continuing to pace.
- "Where is his favorite spot to hang around?" Akira asked, trying to help.
- "There are a few places, but I'm sure Keisuke and Chifuyu already checked those, even his home," she answered, then suddenly stopped as she remembered something. "The batting center..." she whispered, grabbing her phone to call Keisuke again.
- "Did you find him?" Keisuke asked, a hint of hope in his voice.
- "No, he didn't answer my calls, but he told me a while ago that Yotsuya Kaidan used to hang around the batting center. Assuming he's with them, I think that's a good place to start."
- "Sometimes I'm so glad he has a crush on you," Keisuke said before ending the call.
Kaiya was taken aback by his words. She had noticed that Ryusei was always extra nice to her, but never imagined it was because he had a crush on her. She had just considered it his usual behavior, but now that she thought about it, it seemed plausible.
- "I have to go, Akira-chan. I'm sorry, tell me how the movie ends," she said, rushing to the garage to get her motorcycle.
- "Kaiya-chan, wait!" Akira yelled after her, but Kaiya didn't stop.
Kaiya sped through the streets, the chill night air washing over her face. Despite the empty roads, she felt there were too many cars, hindering her speed. Her mind raced with worries about Ryusei and Chifuyu, regretting not asking Keisuke about the latter's safety. The closer she got to the batting center, the more her concern grew. What had happened to Ryusei? Was he back with Yotsuya Kaidan? Had they kidnapped him? Was he all right?
She parked her motorcycle and rushed inside. A few guys looked at her in surprise, but before they could react, she was already behind Kojiro Hishi, the leader of Yotsuya Kaidan, who was about to strike Chifuyu, tied to a chair and beaten on the ground. Kaiya grabbed Kojiro's arm, stopping him.
