Kaiya stared out of the airplane window, watching as the vibrant city lights of Tokyo shimmered against the night sky, blending into the horizon. The sight filled her with a mix of excitement and nervousness. She turned and gently shook Izana's shoulder, waking him from his light slumber. His silver hair fell messily across his forehead as he blinked, trying to shake off the sleep. Next to him, Tenshi stretched, yawning as the soft overhead lights of the cabin flickered back on.
- "It's been a while since we left," Tenshi said, his voice groggy but laced with a sense of quiet anticipation. He glanced over at Kaiya, his eyes lingering on her for a moment.
Izana, still half-asleep, rubbed his eyes.
- "This flight could've been longer," he muttered, sounding as though he wished he could stay suspended in that fleeting calm just a bit longer.
Kaiya smirked, pulling herself back from her thoughts.
- "I wouldn't mind seeing some new faces. I've had enough of yours already," she teased, though the warmth in her voice betrayed her affection for them both.
- "Lies," Izana replied, his tone soft but playful. He gestured to his face, grinning. "You love these faces."
As they walked out of the plane and into the arrivals hall, the soft hum of the airport and the buzz of the crowd seemed distant, almost muted to Kaiya. She spotted the familiar shock of black hair before Mikey came barreling towards her, his face lighting up with a rare, boyish grin.
- "Ka-chin! It's very important! The kids can barely wait to see you!" Mikey exclaimed, grabbing her tightly and lifting her off the ground as if she weighed nothing. His energy was infectious, the way it always was around her.
- "Mikey, wait, my luggage!" Kaiya laughed, her voice filled with surprise and amusement as he slung her over his shoulder with ease.
- "Don't worry about it. Big bro's got it," Mikey called back to Izana, waving off her protests as he whisked her away, leaving Tenshi and Izana behind.
- "He's hopeless." Izana rolled his eyes but smiled knowingly.
Tenshi chuckled as he grabbed Kaiya's luggage.
- "Is your little brother ever going to mature?" he asked, though the affection in his voice betrayed his amusement.
- "You know how he is with Kaiya," Izana replied with a smirk.
As Mikey sped them away on his motorcycle, Kaiya held on to him tightly, her arms wrapped around his waist. The cool night air brushed against her skin, the wind carrying the distant sounds of the city. Her mind wandered to the past six months spent with Izana and Tenjiku. It had been hard work, but fulfilling. Helping orphans, providing medical checkups, offering hope in places where it was desperately needed—this was the path she had chosen, and it had brought her immense pride. But no matter where she went, Tokyo always felt like home. And Mikey—he was a constant, no matter how chaotic things became.
He stopped at the amusement park, a strange quiet hanging in the air compared to the usual bustling crowds.
- "Are the kids here?" Kaiya asked, glancing around.
Mikey smirked, his dark eyes catching the soft glow of the streetlights.
- "Sometimes," he replied, grabbing an ice cream cone from a nearby vendor and handing it to her.
Kaiya raised an eyebrow and let out a laugh.
- "But not today, huh? You're the most selfish guy I've ever met, you know that?"
Mikey gave a half-hearted shrug as he sat down on the bench beside her, his gaze fixed on the reflection of the lights in the water.
- "This kid wanted to see you," he said quietly, a rare vulnerability in his voice.
Kaiya looked at him, the playful expression on her face softening. There were moments, like this one, where Mikey let his guard down, where the weight of everything he carried became too heavy, even for him. She could see it—the lingering sadness in his eyes, the shadow of loss that never seemed to fully fade.
- "Is there any particular reason you 'kidnapped' me?" Kaiya asked, smiling as she licked her ice cream, though her tone was gentle.
- "I just wanted to thank you," Mikey said, his voice uncharacteristically serious. "For always being by my side. For never giving up on me, even when things were... dark." His eyes met hers, and for a brief moment, the playful façade crumbled. "Even when you got hurt because of me."
Kaiya blinked, slightly taken aback.
- "Why now?" she asked softly. "We've always been by each other's side, Mikey. Why say this now?"
- "Because for the past six months, you weren't here. And I realized how much I appreciate you."
Kaiya let out a laugh, the sound soft and a little awkward.
- "You're not gonna ask me to marry you, are you?" she joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Mikey looked at her, his expression caught between amusement and something deeper.
- "No," he replied, then added with a teasing grin, "Only if you want to."
Kaiya burst into laughter, hugging him tightly.
- "Come on, Mikey. Before my brother and the others hunt you down."
Mikey started the engine, and they sped off into the night once more. She rested her head on his back, her thoughts wandering to Kazutora, Keisuke, and Chifuyu—her other constants. The people who had shaped her life in one way or another, each with their own place in her heart.
When they finally arrived at Mikey's home, Kazutora was already outside, waiting for her. The moment he saw her, he ran to her, engulfing her in a tight hug.
- "Oi, Mikey! Who allowed you to kidnap my woman?" Keisuke's voice rang out, filled with playful annoyance as he came outside, shooting Mikey a glare.
Mikey chuckled, but before he could reply, Emma hurled an empty beer can at Keisuke's head.
- "Shut up, you're waking the kids!" she hissed.
Keisuke rubbed his head in mock pain, shooting a playful glare at Emma.
- "That hurt, dammit! It's Mikey's fault anyway!"
Kaiya smiled as she hugged Kazutora, her heart warming at the sight of her makeshift family. She reached for Keisuke, pulling him close and kissing him passionately, her fingers curling into his hair. For a moment, everything felt right—despite the chaos of their lives, despite everything they had endured. They still had each other.
When she pulled away, she found herself in Chifuyu's arms next. His hug was gentler, but the warmth was just as strong.
- "I'm happy to see you back," he whispered.
Kaiya smiled and kissed him softly.
- "Me too, love."
Keisuke raised an eyebrow, shooting Chifuyu a mock glare.
- "Hey! Don't kiss him more than you kissed me, I'll get jealous."
Kaiya laughed, grabbing both their hands.
- "You said you wanted a boyfriend and a girlfriend, Keisuke. We're just making you happy."
Inside, the house was filled with warmth and laughter. Around the table sat Draken, Izana, Tenshi, and the others, their faces lit with smiles as they caught up over drinks. Everyone had found their path, their happiness, yet they all converged here—together, like a patchwork family.
As Kaiya looked around, she realized that, despite everything, this was what she had always fought for. These people—this family—was the heart of her world. And here, surrounded by love, laughter, and a sense of belonging, she knew that she had found her home.
