- "You got into a fight again?!" May's voice rang through the house the moment Kaiya and Akira walked through the door. Her tone was sharp, full of anger and frustration as she stormed toward Kaiya. The tension in the room was immediate, and Akira flinched as her mother's voice echoed in the hallway. "You were with my daughter! What have I told you?!" May's face was flushed with anger, and her hands trembled slightly as she stood in front of Kaiya. "This is the last straw, Kaiya! I told you to take care of Akira, not to involve her in anything dangerous!"

Before Kaiya could respond, May grabbed her hands and held them up in front of her, her eyes widening as she saw the bruised and bandaged knuckles. The sight of Kaiya's bloodied, swollen hands only fueled her fury.

Akira's voice broke through the tension, panicked and desperate.

- "She was protecting me, mom!" Akira yelled, stepping between Kaiya and her mother. Tears of frustration welled up in her eyes as she tried to defend her cousin. "Kaiya didn't do anything wrong!"

But May wasn't listening. Her voice rose, sharp and cutting, as she glared at Kaiya.

- "Oh, yeah? Like that time a few time ago when that creep kept following you home, Akira? Who had to call the police then?" May's eyes flashed with accusation, her words heavy with implication. "And now this?!"

Akira shook her head, her frustration mounting.

- "That had nothing to do with Kaiya!" she protested, her voice cracking with emotion.

May's expression hardened as she crossed her arms over her chest.

- "Suuure, Akira. That's why the guy asked me one day if Kaiya Hanemiya lived here, isn't it?" May's voice was full of sarcasm and bitterness as she revealed something neither of them knew.

Kaiya's heart sank as the realization hit her. May was talking about a man from Yotsuya Kaidan—a gang Kaiya had crossed paths with when she was younger, before leaving her old school behind. Akira had mentioned that the man had stopped following her after she told him Kaiya no longer attended that school. It all made sense now, but Kaiya hadn't known that May had been dealing with them too.

- "I had no idea..." Kaiya murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. She lowered her head in shame, her body tense as guilt washed over her. "I'm sorry, Aunt May."

But May wasn't done. Her anger hadn't dissipated, and her voice grew colder as she continued.

- "Sorry isn't enough, Kaiya," She snapped, her tone harsh. "I've tried, I really have, but the social services came to my workplace because of you. Do you have any idea how that looked for me? The stress and the issues you've caused me?" May's voice cracked with a mixture of anger and frustration, and her eyes narrowed as she spoke. "I was willing to accept it all—the police coming to my door, the broken window—but this is where I draw the line!"

Akira's eyes widened, her hands clenched into fists at her sides as her mother's words cut deep.

- "Mom, stop!" Akira shouted, her voice trembling. "Kaiya did nothing wrong! She was protecting me!"

But May's fury was unrelenting.

- "And why do you need protection, Akira?" she demanded, her voice cold and accusing. "Maybe because of her?!" Her eyes flicked toward Kaiya, her tone dripping with blame.

- "Kaiya did nothing wrong!" She shouted again, tears spilling down her cheeks as she tried to defend her cousin.

Kaiya, her head still bowed, lifted her gaze and looked into her aunt's eyes. Her voice was quiet, heavy with resignation.
