Kaiya stepped cautiously into the overgrown yard of an abandoned factory, her heart pounding in her chest. This desolate place had been identified as the hideout of Yotsuya Kaidan, and it was here she hoped to find Kensho Hishi. The air was thick with tension, the crumbling walls and broken windows of the building serving as a stark reminder of the danger that lurked within.
Before this, she walked side by side with Keisuke, the weight of their mission pressing heavily on her shoulders. Their purpose was clear: to inform Mikey, Draken, and the other captains of Toman about the sinister developments involving Yotsuya Kaidan. The stakes were high, and the thought of confronting her friends with such grave news twisted her stomach into knots. But then, in the midst of her anxiety, her phone buzzed in her pocket. The message she received sparked a glimmer of hope within her, reigniting her original plan.
Kaiya quickly devised a way to avoid meeting with Mikey and the others, convincing Keisuke that the emotional turmoil she was experiencing was too overwhelming. After all, she had just learned that her own brother was plotting to destroy the Tokyo Manji Gang and kill his former friends—news that would devastate anyone in her position.
The message had come from Kojiro, and she suspected it was sent just after he parted ways with Ryusei and Chifuyu. The cold detachment in his words was unmistakable. Kojiro didn't care what became of her; his sole focus was on winning the approval and protection of his brother, Kensho. The realization cut deep, but Kaiya knew she couldn't afford to be swayed by her emotions now. She had to stay focused, for the sake of everyone she cared about, and for the future of Toman.
As she walked through the overgrown yard, the shadows of the abandoned building loomed over her, adding to the tension that hung in the air. Her steps were firm, and the determination in her eyes was impossible to miss. It didn't take long for a few members of Yotsuya Kaidan, who were lingering nearby, to take notice of her presence. Some exchanged puzzled glances, surprised to see a girl walking with such resolve toward the door behind which the notorious "demon," Kensho, and his three companions were said to be.
A few of them whispered among themselves, speculating that she must have lost her way. But one of them—his eyes narrowing as recognition dawned—knew exactly who she was. He was the one tasked with keeping an eye on her, and as fate would have it, he was also the one who had once brazenly asked her cousin out.
A smirk curled at the corners of his lips as he stepped forward, amusement flickering in his eyes.
- "That's Kaiya Hanemiya," he chuckled to the others, his voice laced with mockery. "Oi, Hanemiya, got lost?" he taunted, strolling toward her with a cocky stride.
Kaiya didn't flinch. She fixed him with a steely gaze, her voice cutting through the air with an authority that left no room for idle chatter.
- "Tell Kensho I'm here to see him," she said bluntly, her tone cold and serious. There was no mistaking the message—she had no patience for banter with low-ranking members. She was here on a mission, and she wasn't about to waste a second more than necessary.
The guy felt a surge of irritation at her dismissive attitude, but he bit his tongue. He knew the rules—none of them were allowed to harm her. "The doctor of Toman?" one of the members whispered to his friend, his voice laced with curiosity. "Kazutora's sister," another one murmured, enlightening those who were unaware of her identity.
But not everyone was content to let her pass unchallenged.
- "Oi, bitch, what's with that cocky attitude?" a hot-headed member spat as he stormed toward her, intent on confronting her.
Kaiya's patience was wearing thin. She shot the approaching gang member an impatient glare.
- "I really don't have time for this," she said, her voice sharp with frustration. "I want to speak with Kensho. Will I find him here?" When her question was met with silence, she turned her attention to the door, cupping her hands around her mouth. "Kensho Hishi! I'm Kaiya Hanemiya, are you here?" she called out, her voice echoing through the night.
