Draken's voice was heavy as he explained to Takemichi the depth of Mikey's descent into darkness. The atmosphere between them was somber, as if the weight of the memories themselves hung in the air.
- "Mikey saw it coming," Draken began, his eyes clouded with a mixture of sorrow and resignation. "He knew two years ago what he was becoming, but instead of asking for help, he pushed us away. Beat us, humiliated us—he made us hate him."
Draken's fists clenched unconsciously at his sides as he recalled the pain, both physical and emotional, of being abandoned by someone they had once revered.
- "And after all of that," Draken's voice broke slightly, his eyes darkening, "he had the nerve to call Kaiya to clean up the mess. To patch us up."
Takemichi felt a chill. It wasn't just the betrayal of being hurt by Mikey that cut so deep—it was the fact that Mikey used Kaiya in such a way, knowing how much she loved and trusted them all. Draken's next words came out in a low, pained tone, his jaw tight.
- "I never saw Kaiya so hurt... She's always been strong, you know? Unbreakable, even. But this... this broke her trust. He didn't have to touch her to hurt her. He did something worse."
Draken sighed, trying to push the memory away, but it lingered in his voice.
- "Whatever dark impulses are consuming Mikey, he's still trying to protect us in his own twisted way. Maybe by making us hate him, he's sacrificing himself to keep his promise to you." His gaze softened as he looked at Takemichi, the weight of his own words settling in.
Takemichi's heart ached at the thought.
- "To keep his promise to me?" He whispered, sadness washing over him. Mikey had promised so much, and it was hard to reconcile this dark version of him with the person Takemichi once knew.
Draken forced a small smile, the usual confidence creeping back into his voice.
- "Yeah, Takemitchy. It's all messed up, but I've seen enough to know I'm doing the right thing. And with you joining Brahman, things are already different from the future you know. We're going to get Mikey back. Together."
Takemichi's resolve hardened.
- "Absolutely," he said firmly. Then, after a moment's hesitation, he added, "Draken-kun, do you know if Kaiya is still in contact with Mikey?"
Draken's expression softened.
- "I'm sure she is," he replied. "But I haven't asked her. She's been through enough, and I don't want to reopen old wounds. I think she's still aware of everything, though. She knew about my involvement with Brahman, even though it was never officially announced. I'm sure she's met with Mikey too, but... I doubt they're close anymore." His voice dropped. "I saw the pain in her eyes turn to something darker when she patched us up. She won't forgive him easily."
A few hours later, Takemichi found himself on the back of Draken's motorcycle, speeding toward Brahman's meeting point. The wind whipped around them, and Takemichi's mind raced with thoughts of Mikey, Kaiya, and the looming battle. When they arrived at the amphitheater, the intensity of the atmosphere struck him immediately. A fight was in progress in the center, two men boxing as the cameras rolled, capturing every brutal hit. The crowd buzzed with energy, but Takemichi's eyes were drawn to the figure leaning against a wall in the shadows—Kaiya.
Dressed in her uniform, she observed everything with her usual calm, collected demeanor. But there was a tension in her posture, a quiet storm brewing behind her yellow eyes. She had taken her role seriously, overseeing gang meetings to assess risks for upcoming fights. Yet tonight, something felt different. Takemichi could feel the weight of her presence even from afar, like she was silently calculating the danger that lay ahead.
