Chapter 44-Barbed Wire

Y/N POV:

"So, what's the plan?" You asked and took off the last strap.

"I hate those jackets so so so much..." He stretched out and sighed.

"...Anyways, I know a way to the rooftop. They won't find us there, Follow me and stay close." He demanded and held your hand.

"Okay, are you sure?" You asked and you both started to wander around the halls looking for a exit to the rooftop.

"Positive." He nodded.

~time skip~

Alastor helped you up to a ladder and climbed behind you. The ladder was cold and when you got to the top and opened the trapdoor the chilly air flowed through your hair.

"Alastor this doesn't seem very safe what if we slip?" You stuttered.

"Don't worry I've got you" he reassuringly replied.

He laid down on the roof and looked up at the night sky with his hands held together.

"What are you doing?" You asked looking down at him.

"Come, lay down" He smiled softly.

"Okay..." You stumbled over to him and wearily laid down next to him.

(Alastor, you)

"The stars are really pretty"

"You are actually looking into the infinite cosmic abyss, with only gravity holding you to the surface of the Earth"

"That's a bit scary"

"Yeah it can be a bit scary but think about but we are here right now. Humans lack control of their destiny and once you realize that there is nothing you can do about it, you stop worrying. Let go of that fear and just accept it as part of the life cycle we all must face. No one escapes it."

"I guess...I killed someone today. Their life is over because of me, I was in control of their destiny in that moment and I ended it right there."

"That is why I like to murder people"

"Did I like murdering people too?"

"I think you did, yes"

"How did we meet?"

"You worked at a little cafe and I went there early in the morning."

"Why did you come early?"

"I am...was a quite popular radio host. You didn't know who I was though, so I bought you a radio. "

"Damn I broke your ego and you bought me a radio?! I should break your ego again so I get more free gifts!" You laughed and Alastor hummed in annoyance.

"Anyways, So I worked at a cafe?"

"Yep! I went to see you every single day, you made the best coffee in the whole state of Louisiana!"
