Chapter 98- Left behind

Niftys POV:

I've been alone for over a week now...it's been great! I can now hear all the bugs and crawly noises, it's like hide and seek!

I've been cleaning the whole house and it's now spotless. I had to throw the rotting dead body out the basement which was tough, the smell was awful.

I've named every bug in the house and ate them in-front of their family, it brings me so much joy.

Bang bang bang...

My head shot up.

Alastor! Y/n!

A smile widened on my face as I dashed to the door with inhuman speed of excitement.

I knew they would be back!

I flung open the door but was only greeted my the cold frigid air nipping at my nose.

Oh. It's just the wind...

~week time skip~

Night after night I waited...my stomach was empty and tight. I've eaten all the food in the kitchen cupboards and most of the bugs around the house.

They are probably just getting a bunch of food to bring back...we are running out...

Are they coming back?

Alastor said he liked me and wanted to keep me...right? Why would they abandon me? It makes no sense?

I leaned out the window looking at the fluffy snowflakes fall to the ground, the moonlight shone through the trees and my breathing created a mist.

I started to sing, my soft voice echoed through my surroundings.

"Happily waiting
All on my own
Under the endless sky~"

I looked up at the twinkling stars that gleamed in the night sky, like fireflies.

"Counting the seconds
Standing alone
As thousands of minutes go by~"

A few tears fell down my cheeks and my voice was broken up and sniffily.

"Happily wondering
Night after night
Is this how it works?..."

Am I doing it right?

I started to sob and break down, I was Alone. I've been abandoned before...

...why do people do this to me?

~flashback~

I was 12 years old again and a boy was shouting at me, I had frightened tears in my eyes.

"Nifty! You are such a pain!!" He pushed me and I stumbled back.

"But I just want to be included in the game? I just want to play with my friends?" I cried.

"Are you mad? You have no friends! You are just here all the time like a roach that won't die!" He spat bitterly.

"D-Don't be a meanie!" I stuttered, wiping my tears.

"It's the truth and everyone agrees! Don't you?" He looked at the other children surrounding me and they were all laughing at my crying face.

"You are all the roaches! Every single one of you!" I sobbed, my eyes darting to each child.

"Well you are clearly blind as a bat!" One child spoke out behind me.

"You are clearly a-a"

"Is little nifty lost for words? You're not that smart are you? It's like you haven't grown up."
