What the hell is she? Quinn wandered past, and Bora's shoulder collided with him. We gazed in disbelief at how he didn't acknowledge my brother.

"Damn!" Qu massages his it in circles. "The term" excuse me will be nice?" He faced back, hands in the air."

"Right." I closed the door behind me, coming into a room that was a step into a fairy tale. In the evening, the sun casts a glow on the clawfoot tub, which is embellished with leaf vines in the den corners. I prefer an autumn feel with giant leopard moths and black beetles. Fifteen minutes into the tube, my butterfly friends came to see me of many colors. The white butterflies decorate my curls with their gorgeous wings.

These guys are more attracted to me than the others. One more landed on my dripping knees. I brought my fingers to its gentle feet, encouraging it to crawl into my hand. It flew out the window. I watched through it, finding myself in the middle of the forest. My hair is wild and wearing string leaf-like jungle coverings with tons of flowers in my curls. Her eyes are just how mine are now.

Small animal critters surround her. Peaceful and alluring. She was graceful with her infinitesimal movements and soft touches. She isn't me. My way of life is on the go, constantly hurrying, always ready for the next thing. But I can tell time is all she has. A hog approached her. Her snout grows in motion as I throw my head to avoid witnessing her take a bite of the swine. I searched back, and the visual was gone. Did she turn?

"Did you see her?" Vine stands at the door with a bath cloth folded over her arm.

"I don't know what I saw."

"So you deny her? Even though she is your true self." She lays it on the rack next to the tube, coming closer to my nose. "Fix it, or you'll lose it forever."

"Maybe I enjoy being human."

She straightens in disgust. "Exactly something she would say." She dropped her expression and left me alone. I stared back out the window and saw nothing was there. Lose her, huh? I don't even know her. Why would I care? Morning came from tossing and turning all night. I burn like a freaking furnace. I stumble to the sink to throw water on my face. I am the same, but the view in the mirror shows my flushed cheeks and irises of another.

The discovery probably shocked my body. I gathered myself, pulled over a hoodie, and strolled into the morning hall, watching a green hummingbird hover over the moody blues. It is much prettier in the sunrise and less soul-snatching. My people gather in the kitchen, surrounding the island, engaging in jovial conversation. However, Wooly leans against the wall, while Bora occupies a small chair in solitude, positioned in the corner. I stroll up, eager to get affection from him. Being far away last night was harder than expected.

I bend down to kiss him on the lips, but he smoothly whips his head, standing up in front of me. Is he using his height against me? Rude. "Is everything okay?"

"You should get packing. We have a mission to fulfill." He walked past me, leaving me on ice. I glanced at everyone in search of the cause of the issue, only to find them all in a state of speechlessness, save for the slight grin on Miska's lower lip.

"Like I said. He could never love a human." The witch's cackles were more exotic than the last, sending chills down my spine at the possibilities. The first time I ever feared my relationship with Bora. I ignored her and went after him. We are stronger than this. There is nothing that could get in between us. Not even in death. We've proven that.

I spotted him under the leaf umbrella tree and was nostalgic for the smell of the dark open pores, giving a spruce pine aroma in the damp air. There is no way we lost. Not after all this time. I tapped his shoulder, and he slowly spun in annoyance, gradually picking pieces of my heart apart.

Where did my sweet butterscotch eyes go? Whatever. Stand strong. He may have an alpha aura, but we are equal. He comes to my face enough to feel the air slip through those lips. Coldness mizzled over me, making it seem like my warmth was a million miles ahead. "Tell me." his airbrushed my nose. "Why do you think I want to see your face?" My stomach fell to the floor, cheeks burned as sweat dripped from the cuffs of my breasts.

"I am your mate."

A breathy huff in a smile made me sad. As though he is saying how I could be so foolish "Was... my mate? You act like he never existed."

"Who?"

"Our son."
