Hyunjin frowned. His chest felt tight. Before Hyunjin could say anything else, Felix was pulled back, and Hyunjin's eyes met Lee Know's glare.

Hyunjin immediately lost his breath and stumbled back. Lee Know had been a safe space for Hyunjin a year ago; now he filled Hyunjin with fear every time they met. Hyunjin didn't know why he was afraid of him, but he didn't want to explore it.

Lee Know glared at Hyunjin and said, "Stay away from my brother." Hyunjin's fear momentarily abated.

Hyunjin said rolling his eyes, "Just like you stay away from mine?"

Lee Know's expression didn't falter, "You still call him your brother? After getting him in hospital?"

Hyunjin's eyes twitched, "At least you're brother is safe from you and he doesn't hate you."

Lee Know smirked, "Stay away, leave Felix alone."

Hyunjin's jaw tightened and his eyes flickered down. Hyunjin took a step closer to Lee Know and whispered, "Unlike you, I don't abandon my friends."

Silence.

Hyunjin's eyes met Lee Know's and they both stared at each other.

Felix grabbed Lee Know's hand snapping him out of his trance and pulling him away. Hyunjin felt a sharp pain in his chest. It was gone as soon as it came.

Hyunjin walked back to his table thinking of Felix.

-

Felix aggressively pulled Lee Know outside. Lee Know was shocked, Felix had never acted like this. Felix turned around and shouted, "What's your problem? What did Hyunjin ever do to you?! I was the one talking to him and it took me so long to get him to listen and you just had to!"

Lee Know was speechless. Felix raised his brow, he was very angry but was trying to hide it because Lee Know was older than him. Lee Know said calmly, "His father almost ran over Jisung. Did anyone raise a single finger towards him? No. His father is dangerous, I am trying to keep you safe."

Felix narrowed his eyes at Lee Know with a glare. "Well stop trying." Felix said in a cold, deep voice, and walked away.

Lee Know sighed, he was really looking forward to going home to Han.

Meanwhile,

IN and Binnie were looking at their lunch, hyper-focused in eating. Seungmin shifted uncomfortably and Chan cleared his throat quietly. They hadn't expected for that argument to break out. Suddenly Changbin looked up and said, "IN! I forgot you stole my cherries! PAY UP!" IN's eyes widened and he quickly packed his stuff, sprinting away.

Seungmin snorted and Bang Chan started laughing when Changbin packed his stuff, chasing after IN. Those two always knew how to lighten the mood.

Hyunjin watched them from where he was sitting. Ignoring the people he was sitting with and tuning the rest of the noisy cafeteria as white noise. He watched how Chan and Seungmin were comfortable with each other. How they cracked jokes, and smiled, and laughed, and held hands, and looked at each other as if there was nothing else other than those two.

Hyunjin smiled, it was nice to see both of them trying. Had they gotten together already, Hyunjin didn't know, but he really longed for someone to smile with again.

The bell rang and Hyunjin got up with his stuff, still ignoring Min-Joon and his group of meanies. Hyunjin was mad at them for talking like that with Felix. Felix deserved the universe and then a whole lot more. If infinity was a number, Hyunjin would've done anything to give it to him.

An infinity of smiles.

An infinity of texts.

An infinity of love.

Hyunjin paused while walking to his school hallway at the absurd thought. Everything around him was still a white noise. He realized, Hyunjin and Felix could barely manage to be friends because of Lee Know. Maybe Hyunjin should except it, he was a horrible brother. But for one thing Hyunjin knew, he wasn't a bad friend. He had proof of that in his head, in the form of memories. Happy, peaceful memories stored away to remember. Memories that kept linking to Felix. Highlighting him in the background.

Hyunjin always thought of Felix as the sunshine, now his memories were proving that. Memories of the time when they all used to be friends. Lee Know's birthday was coming up, Felix and Hyunjin baked a cake. Hyunjin babysitting Han and Felix and watching them play tug-of-war over and over. Felix gifting Hyunjin the two rings he was twirling around his fingers right now.

Hyunjin walked through the busy school hall as someone shoulder checked him, but Hyunjin was busy staring at both his rings. Hyunjin face was void of any emotion or expression, but Hyunjin felt so much inside. He reached his locker and blankly stared at the metal door of it. Felix reached out. Felix tried to help. Maybe it was for Han. But it was for Hyunjin as well.

Hyunjin didn't realize when he had put in the combination and opened his locker, or when he had shoved his stuff inside the small space. Everything and everyone around him felt crowded and unbearable.

It was overwhelming him.

Until he saw a picture stuck at the back of his locker. It was him, with Lee Know, Han, and Felix. Hyunjin's eyes watered and he leaned his head in the locker. He wanted his family back.

More importantly, he didn't want Felix to leave him.

He wanted Felix to be a part of his life.

Maybe he was being selfish.

He would end up hurting him anyways.

But Hyunjin wanted to be selfish just this once.
