Chapter 33

(A/N: Don't watch that until I say so forward in the chapter, and if you've already watched it, it's up to you what you do)

Suffering alone.

Suddenly the bell rung and an announcement came over the speakers, making all the students look up. They barely ever had announcements.

"Dear students, this is a reminder for the after school auditions for the music competition. Judges will be coming from the capital and this could be a huge opportunity for your future careers in music. See you there!"

After hearing the announcement, the students sighed in boredem and went back to their chapter. Not Felix though.

Felix looked at Hyunjin excitedly and said, "Are you going to audition?"

Hyunjn sputtered and said, "No!"

Felix pouted, "But why? You sing so beautifully and you love music. It's not like you haven't performed before on stage in front of kids before."

Hyunjin said, "That was once, with Lee Know, for fun. I had prepared for it a month ago and I was much more confident."

"But you should at least try Hyunjin-ah! Just sing any of your old songs. Anything that can express you." Felix said seriously.

Hyunjin gulped and said, "I don't think words can express me."

Felix frowned. Felix sighed and said, "It's ok. It's your choice after all. But Hyunjin, as far as I remember, this used to be your dream. Whatever you chose to do, make sure that when you look back at it in the future, you don't regret it."

Hyunjin looked at Felix for a moment and nodded.

Their classes started and they parted ways. All day Hyunjin couldn't stop thinking about what Felix said.

Lunch time,

This time their lunch was more lively than last time. All of them sharing their lunch with Hyunjin, even Changbin, who admittedly asked more food from his mom in his lunch, so he could share.

Hyunjin was quiet most of the time. He watched Felix and Han bicker with a small smile. Chan and Seungmin were obviously flirting. Chanbin and IN had slowly joined Han and Felix in their mini argument.

Lee Know nudged Hyunjin with his elbow and said, "Are you auditioning after school?" Hyunjin looked at Lee Know and shook his head. Lee Know nodded and said, "Felix told me about it." Hyunjin gulped and said, "I don't even know what to sing if I do. Felix said that I could sing something that expresses me but I don't... words aren't enough." Lee Know squinted and said, "I get what you're trying to say. I don't sing much anymore because I don't know how to put my feelings in words."

Hyunjin smiled. It had been really long since Hyunjin had someone understand him. Now that Hyunjin thought about it, it had been even longer for someone to care about Hyunjin like Felix did. Hyunjin felt safe around him. Hyunjin talked a lot more and smiled more often too.

Lee Know said interrupting his thoughts, "If I were you, I would audition, but do something else to express myself. Something I am good at."

Hyunjin's eye-brows scrunched in thought at what Lee Know said.

Hyunjin looked at Felix once Hyunjin understood. He could dance. Hyunjin had been practicing his choreography for 'When the party's over.' What better could he do to express himself?

He could put in all the emptiness he felt when he was away from his friends. Away from Felix. Alone at home. He could convey all the despair he felt when his dad came home every night. When his body hurt so much that he could barely breathe. When he hid under his bed because his dad was drunk. He could show all that longing he felt for a softer touch. The longing he felt for Felix to love him. The longing he felt all alone.

How he yearned to be treated like a human.

To be loved.

To be safe.

To be taken care of.

Was it too much to ask?

Go one week without new bruises.

Be safe in Felix's warm embrace.

Go to sleep listening to Felix's heart beat instead of his father's words.

Hyunjin got up from his place, determined. He knew exactly what to do.

After school was over, Felix was walking towards their usual spot to meet up with Hyunjin when his phone buzzed. It was a text from Hyunjin. His sunflower.

Felix smiled reading, "I am going to the audition."

Felix turned around sharply and sprinted to his locker, keeping his bag away and running towards the auditorium. He was excited to see Hyunjin perform.

Time skip,

Felix was sitting in the theatre seats, Han was sitting beside him and so were the others. Felix had texted everyone to come watch. Hyunjin deserved all the support.

"I hope Hyunjin doesn't get nervous seeing us here." Felix thought as another student came on stage to sing.

Lots of performances passed, some singers and some dancers. All of the students were talented and doing their best. They were good, but they weren't satisfying.

At least to Felix they weren't.

Felix waited impatiently tapping his foot on the ground. Han smacked Felix's arm lightly and said, "Calm down, Hyunjin is dancing next."

Felix sighed and nodded.

Then he paused.

"HYUNJIN IS DANCING?!?!" Felix almost shouted to Han who flinched. Han said, "Calm bro. Yeah, Lino said he was going to dance."

Felux nodded trying to sink in his seat. He didn't know that Hyunjin could dance. Felix just had to pray that he didn't faint watching his boyfriend, the Hwang Hyunjin, dance on stage.

Hyunjin's turn came next.

There was a small moment of silence when Hyunjin's performance ended. Now everyone was clapping and cheering for Hyunjin loudly.

In the midst of the loud applause, was Felix, who was crying.

Felix hiccuped uncaring of how all of his friends were standing and cheering like crazy. Felix had never thought a dance performance could make him cry, but it did.

Felix looked to his right to see Han hiding his face in Lee Know's chest. Han was crying softly too.

After the other performances were over, and it was time to go home, Felix ran to Hyunjin, calling his name.

Hyunjin turned around in the middle of the school hallway with a smile hearing Felix call his name. Felix jumped into Hyunjin's arms as both of them hugged each other.

Hyunjin whispered, "Did I do good?"

Felix said, "It was incredible."

"Really?"

"Yes really, and I have no words to describe it."

"Then show me instead." Hyunjin said playfully. Felix wrapped his arms around Hyunjin's necked and kissed him.

Some things can't be told in words, but can be showed through actions.
