"Come on, Jeremy

"Come on, Jeremy. Going to school." Elena called. "Walking out the door now." Jenna ran up to the twins and tapped Elena's shoulder.

"You forgot this." Jenna handed Elena a purple folder.

"Jeremy, if you don't get your ass down here, I swear to god!" Lyn yelled up the stairs. Jenna and Elena exchanged a fond look at Lyn's impatience. She waited all of half a second before she flung open the door.

Standing in the doorway, raising his fist to knock, was their Uncle John. "Emalyn!" John said, grinning at the sight of his niece. Elena came into view, and Uncle John's smile brightened.

"Uncle John. Hi." she greeted, a wary smile appearing on her face. Lyn made no effort to smile, simply staring him down, running through the reasons he might be here in her head. Lyn had never disliked her uncle, and she still wouldn't say she disliked him per say. But after the funeral for her parents, her uncle had left without so much of a 'Are you okay' or 'What can I help with?' He had simply left them in Jenna's care and took off, and here he was as if he had not a care in the world.

"Jenna." He greeted stiffly.

"John, you made it." Jenna practically ground out. Elena and Lyn looked at their aunt with an annoyed expression. It was safe to say that John was definitely not the favorite family member.

"I said I'd be in by noon."

"Oh, what you say and what you do are typically two very different things," Jenna remarked. Jeremy made his way down the stairs, looking pissed off at the world. His backpack was slung over one shoulder, and Lyn could tell that he was not taking Vicki's death very well.

"Uncle John. What's up?" He said, probably the most welcoming response John had gotten out of the four of them.

"Hey." John returned. Jeremy patted him on the shoulder before making his way out of the house without another word to any of them.

"I had some business in town. I thought a visit was in order." He explained.

"How long are you staying?" Elena asked, and Lyn could see the hope that it wouldn't be long in her eyes.

"I don't know yet." He responded.

"Okay. Well, we better get to school. "Elena excused them. "See you later." She told Jenna specifically. The two girls closed the door behind them and made their way towards Lyn's car. Elena shook herself off from the encounter.

"Who does he think he is, coming in like he owns the place? Especially after he bolted last time!" Lyn ranted. Elena just shook her head.

Lyn sat next to Elena in Mr. Saltzman's room as he delivered them some alarming news. "I made a copy of a paper that Jeremy wrote for me. I think you two should take a look at it," He told the girls. Lyn took the paper he handed her, and her eyes widened at the title.
