If it wasn't already apparent, Emalyn Gilbert was not a good sleeper. And that was talking about the times when she actually slept, not even taking into account her incessant insomnia. Even as a baby, she was the one who would cry at odd hours of the night while her sister slept peacefully in the crib beside her own.

Even with all that, she somehow found a way to fall asleep during slumber parties. She used to say that it was the universe's way of mocking her. But as she was curled up in Caroline's bed, her arm draped haphazardly over the blonde, it felt more like a gift. Because, despite all of her issues with it, Lyn loved sleeping. So, it was understandable that she became peeved when her sister's phone began to ring, interrupting her much needed and earned sleep.

Luckily for her, Caroline reacted quickly by pushing Elena off of the bed. Her twin landed on the floor, which was covered in pillows from the past night's Netflix binge and answered her phone. "Hello?" Elena said to whoever she was talking to. It was probably Stefan; shame on him for interrupting her sleep. Bonnie and Caroline quickly protested to the noise, causing Elena to leave the room.

Lyn sighed in relief as soon as her sister's voice faded from earshot. She then proceeded to snuggle deeper under the covers.

If only she could stay, there forever.

Unfortunately for her, staying in bed all day was not an option. She had promised Jenna earlier in the week that she would attend the historical society's high tea. Jenna usually hated those events so Lyn had told her she would come with to keep her company.

This particular event was scheduled in order to welcome a writer who was writing a book on small town Virginia. Lyn had thought that that seemed like the most boring book idea ever. She was a little biased seeing as she had grown up in a small town in Virginia, causing her to dislike the topic. Then she had learned that it was all a ruse. The author of this book was actually Elijah, posing under this charade in order to blend in with the town. It was rather ingenious seeing as the people in Mystic Falls loved to think they were more interesting than they actually were.

She had put her hair into flowing beach waves and gone with a nicer top than usual. She slowed her pace considerably as she walked up the steps to the Lockwood mansion. She was still a bit uneasy about seeing Elijah again. "What are you doing here?" She heard a familiar voice ask from behind her.

She turned to face Damon as he joined her near the threshold. "Jenna asked me to come. What about you?"

"Well, a little birdy told me that there might be a certain original at this party." Lyn rolled her eyes and made her way into the party. She sought out Jenna, not wanting to interact with any of the housewives of Mystic Falls.

Jenna smiled upon sight of her. "You made it," She exclaimed and then proceeded to grimace upon seeing Damon. It was safe to say that learning that he was a vampire did not improve Jenna's view of him. And they hadn't even told her about when he snapped Lyn's neck. "Damon, what are you doing here?"
