Ghost

As I get dressed that next morning, I couldn't help but watch Caroline sleep so peacefully. She laid on her stomach wrapping her arms around the pillow. The sheets covered her gorgeous naked body.

I had woken up earlier to about 4 missed calls and texts from Soap about where I was. I didn't want to leave. I wish that I could stay and keep her in my arms all day long. Her touch was so comforting and intoxicating. Getting out of bed this morning felt like torture.

I finally buckle my belt and walk over to her side of the bed. I squat down to her level and kiss her forehead. Her eyes slowly flutter open. She smiles when she sees me. I smile back while stroking through her hair.

"Morning." I say softly. "Did I wake you?"

She chuckles. "Maybe. But I don't care. Do you have to leave? Why don't you stay?"

I sigh. "I have to. I've ignored the calls and messages all night. I should probably go before they get angry with me. I am their Lieutenant anyway."

She smiles. I stare into her eyes, not saying a word and take in her looks.

"What?" She chuckles.

"You really need to stop smiling at me." I smirk.

"Why?" She caresses my cheek.

"Cause I won't be able to leave. It draws me in too much."

"Isn't that a good thing?" She smirks. "But I'll keep it in mind."

"You are something else. If I keep seeing you smiling at me like that, it's going to take me hours and maybe days to get back to work."

She turns onto her back with the sheets still covered on her. I stand up from the position I was in and lean over to look down at her.

"Will you come back later?" She asks.

I shrug. "Depends on what those guys need. I promise I'll come back the next moment I am free."

I lean down and kiss her gently. Her hands rest on my neck. We break apart and I smile at her. I pull on my mask before walking to the door. I look back at her once. She was so gorgeous like that. I could stare at her for hours. Maybe even days.

I smile under my mask before walking out the bedroom door. I make my way outside her apartment. I get a few looks from her neighbors outside. I'm sure they heard what we did last night. I smirk and get into my car as everyone stares. At least now they know my name.

I get to base and walk in. I immediately see Gaz. He notices me and walks over.

"Ghost. Where have you been?" He asked curiously.

"I was just out."

"All night?" He tilts his head.

"What do you want Gaz?" I say ignoring most of his question.

"Didn't Soap tell you? Your training rookie soldiers today." He says.

I groan. I forgot about that. I knew about it for weeks and it completely flew over my head. I rub the back of my neck.

"Right. I mean I'm not late, am I?" I ask.
