Teca Family Reunion

The Tecas visit Zatz and Maya to meet the new additions to the family.

It's been a few weeks since Dawn and Dusk were born. Maya and Zatz have been spending all their free time caring for the infant gods.

One day, Maya was softly humming, holding Dawn while she slowly walked around the room, trying to get her nap.

Zatz walked into the room, holding Dusk, doing the same thing, "Is she asleep yet?" He asked. 

"We're getting there." Maya said, "You know, it's a process. What about you?" 

"It's a process, right?" Zatz shrugged, lightly bouncing Dusk who giggled in his arms. 

There was a knock at the door, Zatz and Maya going to answer. When they answered, they saw Maya's whole family, "Hi!"

"Wha...? Hey!" Maya said, "What are you guys doing here?" 

"Why do you think we're here?" Queen Teca said as they all went inside, "We're here to meet the twins."

"We were going to bring them to meet you in a few days." Zatz said. 

"We couldn't wait to meet the new Teca twins, what can we say?" King Teca said. 

Zatz and Maya looked at each other and shrugged, "They're clearly not going to nap anytime soon, so I guess it's alright." 

Maya smiled warmly as her family gathered around her and Zatz. The twins looked up at the Tecas with bright eyes and smiles.

"This is Dusk." Zatz said gesturing to the boy in his arms, "And this is Dawn." 

"They're so cute." Lance gushed.

"I didn't think they'd look like both of you." Daggers said. 

"At least you picked names that suited them." Shield said. 

"To be honest, we hardly thought of names until they were born." Maya said, "We just knew when we saw them." 

"Is it alright if we hold them?" Queen Teca asked. 

"Of course." Zatz said, "Just be careful." 

The deity couple gently handed their kids to King and Queen Teca. Dawn and Dusk looked at their grandparents with warm smiles. 

"Hola, mi querida." Queen Teca cooed at Dawn. She tickled Dawn's chin, making her laugh. 

King Teca's heart melted when Dusk held his arms out to him. Dusk gripped King Teca's large finger with his small hands. 

"You never fail to make us proud, mija." Queen Teca said, "They're beautiful."

A rogue tear escaped Maya's eye as she and Zatz smiled warmly.

"Thank you, Mama." Maya said, "I don't know how you dealt with birth."

"It's a miracle we can."

"They're going to be great warriors." King Teca said.

"They'll be what they want to be." Queen Teca said as they passed the twins to the brothers. 

"Exactly." Maya said, "We'll be happy if they choose to not be warriors."

"At the very least, we can tell they're going to be quite the troublemakers." Zatz chuckled, "Have you seen who her parents are?"

Everyone laughed at how true the statement was. Dawn and Dusk have the blood of warriors from both parents. That kind of fire was bound to be passed down to them.

"Well, you should know we're visiting all the time." Daggers said. 

"And we're always free to babysit." Shield said, lightly bouncing Dawn. 

"Well, not always, but you know." Lance said, tickling Dusk's feet.

"We'll keep that in mind." Maya said. 

For a few hours, the family traded stories, laughs, and endless dotes on Dusk and Dawn. 

It wasn't until Maya's family left that the twins finally fell asleep.
