Letting Her Know He's Taken

Maya confronts a girl who thinks she can flirt with Zatz.

It's been a few months since the battle with Mictlan and things have already cooled back down since.

Zatz and Maya were still getting used to their new roles as gods, learning new powers and rules. They learned right away that they could visit the mortal realm whenever they wanted to, as it was needed for their jobs. With this new information, they planned to visit their living friends and family after they all had time to settle into life after the battle.

One morning, while Maya was raising the sun, Zatz was in the mortal realm, purchasing supplies for the home they shared.

Both Zatz and Maya's human disguises were pretty much the same as their god forms, only in different clothes. 

Zatz had just purchased a bag of grains when he heard giggling. He turned around to see two girls staring at him with dopey grins on their faces. 

The shorter one batted her eyes at him and waved. He politely smiled and waved back as he continued to browse the village's market.

Zatz thought it was about time to go home, he had just about gotten everything he and Maya needed. He was just about to leave until something caught his eye.

Red orchids. Maya would love them.

He was starting to make his way to the vendor selling the flowers when the same girls from before came up to him.

"Hello." The taller one said.

"Uh, hello." Zatz said as he kept walking.

"Are you from around here?" The shorter one asked.

"No, no, I'm not. I live very far from here."

"Oh, you might've traveled a long way."

"You could say that." Zatz reached the flower vendor, the two girls still behind him. He pointed to the orchids and asked the vendor, "Can I have those?"

The vendor nodded with a smile and started to prepare the flowers for him.

"How much longer will you be here for?" The taller one asked.

"I'm actually leaving in a couple of minutes."

"Oh, dear. That's a shame. You must stop by our home before you go."

Both girls stepped closer to him, almost leaning into his face, their eyes gleaming. 

"You could get to know one of us better." The shorter one said. 

Zatz awkwardly stepped away from the two girls and closer to the vendor, "Uh, I must respectfully decline your offer. My heart already belongs to someone else."

Zatz finished purchasing the orchids and bid the two girls goodbye.

As soon as he left the village, the girls let out a dreamy sigh with a hint of disappointment, "She's so lucky." The taller one said.

Zatz had dropped the supplies and the flowers off in his and Maya's room before going to the marketplace of the gods. Not to buy anything, just to look around and wait for Maya to come home.

He was going through some fabrics when he heard a voice, "Hello."

He turned to see a goddess, not much older than him, looking at him with a grin.

"Hello." Zatz said. He thought that was the end of the interaction, but the next thing he knew, the goddess was right in front of him.

"It's Zatz, right?" The goddess asked.
