After the wedding, Chaska and Tezcatlipoca run into a bitter young goddess.

It's been a week since Zatz and Maya's wedding and have been away on their honeymoon.

Chaska had gone to the mortal realm a few times to pass on the scent of Zatz and Maya's mortal souls. If other wolves helped with her search, then the chances of finding worthy soul vessels would be greater.

After sending Estrella to the mortal realm, Chaska was walking around the celestial marketplace when Tezcatlipoca walked up to her.

"Well, if it isn't my dear friend." He said, "Have you been avoiding me?"

"No, why would you think that?" Chaska asked.

"I don't know, maybe because I haven't seen you since the wedding and I've heard that you've been taking a lot of trips to the mortal realm."

Chaska hadn't told anyone of her plan for Zatz and Maya's reincarnations. She wasn't doing anything wrong, but the higher ups had already spoken against the idea, but after talking with Ah Puch, she wasn’t going to let them stop her. The only one who knew was Candle Maker and she intended to keep it that way.

It's not that she didn't trust Tezcatlipoca, she just didn't want many people to know. She planned on telling him. Eventually.

"Well, I want to spend more time up there." Chaska shrugged.

"Oh, really? And what have you been doing up there?"

"Is this an interrogation?" He isn't going to give up, is he?

"Not unless you tell me what you're doing." Tezcatlipoca glared at Chaska with his arms crossed.

"I'm just interacting with wolves, what else would I be doing?" Chaska said, "Even so, it's none of your business!"

"Oh, hello, there."

Chaska and Tezcatlipoca turned to see Lluvia, daughter of Tlaloc. She had a smirk on her face with her hands on her hips, "Am I interrupting anything?"

"No, not at all." Tezcatlipoca said.

"Really? Because I wouldn't want to interfere with your love the same way you interfered with mine."

"We're not in love!" Chaska said through gritted teeth.

Tezcatlipoca rolled his eyes, "Don't tell me you're still hung up on Zatz?"

"If you had left us alone for a few minutes-"

"He's already spoken for." Chaska said, "And now he's married, so I suggest you move on."

"He'd be married to me if you let me have him."

Chaska sighed and shook her head.

"I'm guessing this is why we missed you at the wedding." Tezcatlipoca said.

"You think I'd attend the wedding of that imp who calls herself a goddess?" Lluvia said as she stared daggers into the two gods.

"You'd better be careful with what you say about Maya." Chaska warned.

"Well, she's not here right now, is she?"

"Nope." Tezcatlipoca said, "You know where she is? She's on her honeymoon with emo boy, where she's getting endless-" Chaska kneed him in the gut before he finished his sentence, "Ow!"

Chaska took a deep breath, stepping closer to Lluvia, "Lluvia, you need to accept that Zatz is not interested. He never was and he never will be. And if you don't like that, then I suggest you learn to live with it."

Lluvia said nothing as she stared into Chaska's intimidating eyes. After a moment, she sighed and stepped back.

"Fine." She huffed, "There are plenty of eligible men for me, anyway."

"That's the spirit." Tezcatlipoca said.

"Besides, it's only a matter of time before he leaves her and I'll be there to pick up the pieces."

Chaska and Tezcatlipoca watched Lluvia walk away with wide eyes and dropped jaws.

"The nerve of that girl!" Chaska said, pacing the floor, "How can she say something like that? Is she really just going to wait for the very, very, very slim chance of something to go wrong with their relationship?! Have you ever seen such a-"

"Stop." Tezcatlipoca placed a hand on her shoulder, guiding her down to sit on the floor, "Just relax." He sat down behind her and began petting behind her ears.

Chaska was caught off guard by the sudden touch. She closed her eyes as she smiled, letting out a sigh as she melted into his touch. Every gentle stroke and scratch Tezcatlipoca made behind her ears brought her pleasure and enjoyment, her anger disappearing instantly.

"Is that better, puppy?" Tezcatlipoca asked, softly.

"Oh, yes." Chaska said, "A-A little to the left." Tezcatlipoca moved his hand where she directed him to go, "Lower, lower. Yes, right there."

His touch almost sent her to another world. There wasn't anywhere else she'd rather be right now.

For a moment, Chaska opened her eyes, her heart stopping and eyes growing wide at what she saw.

While Tezcatlipoca was stroking her ears, she didn't notice she was laying in her lap, and a few bystanding gods were staring at them with warm smiles.

Chaska glanced between Tezcatlipoca and the other gods, her face flushed with embarrassment. After a moment, she quickly stood up and pulled Tezcatlipoca on his feet. She swiftly walked away, trying not to make eye contact with anyone.

"It hurts me to know that you're embarrassed by me." Tezcatlipoca said.

"We were in public." Chaska said, "Everyone won't shut up about us "being in love" enough already."

"Eh, good point."

"But, I appreciate what you did. It was… nice."

"Anytime, Chaska."

Tezcatlipoca and Chaska shared a warm smile before they kept walking.

Not many people could effectively calm Chaska down; Zatz, Camazotz, Estrella. And now, Tezcatlipoca.
