When running away from hunters in the mortal realm, Chaska meets the god of chaos for the very first time.
Chaska had been in the mortal realm for a few weeks and was about to return to the realm of gods. There was always the risk of Mictlan finding her in the mortal realm, but she wasn't going to let that stop her from going.
Estrella would normally go with her, but he was feeling under the weather, so he stayed behind. He should be feeling better by now.
Chaska was in her wolf form going to the divine gate, the night silent as she walked.
From the distance, she heard rustling, making her freeze in her tracks.
Chaska carefully listened to the noises, trying to make out what was going on. She heard whispering, "Shh. Stay silent, you'll scare it off."
Hunters.
They sounded close.
It wasn't the first time Chaska had encountered hunters, each time handled differently. For the time being, she continued walking, picking up her pace. She kept an ear out for the hunters in case they tried anything. She didn't hear much but rustling and whispering and it seemed like there were quite a few hunters.
Without warning, Chaska felt a sharp stab near her shoulder, making her snarl loudly in pain, most likely a tranquilizer to try to subdue her.
Ok, time to run.
Chaska ran forward, the hunters not far behind her, "Don't let it get away!" She heard one of them say. She hoped her speed would be enough to lose them, depending on how persistent they were.
She whined in surprise as she was suddenly snatched up in the air, dangling high above the ground.
A trap. Clever.
Chaska watched the hunters gather around her with weapons through the net, growling at them.
"We've never seen one that big before." One said.
"Even better." Another said, "This one will be worth a fortune. Cut it down."
It was possible they hunted for sport. Chaska was ready to either reveal herself and give them a warning or bite them, one or the other.
One of the hunters walked to a rope about to cut Chaska down from the trap. Before he could even touch the rope, a whack was heard as the hunter cried out in pain before collapsing to the ground unconscious.
The hunters looked down at him in shock and confusion, Chaska equally confused. Something obviously hit him, but no one saw anything.
"What happened to him?" One asked.
"He was hit by nothing." Another said.
"Where did that come from?"
Suddenly a loud roar was heard, making the hunters freeze in terror. Black mist appeared which quickly encased them in darkness. From what Chaska saw through the darkness, some of the hunters were being knocked out by a force or being not even she could see. Every time a hunter fell to the ground, he'd disappear in a puff of black smoke.
What was going on?
After a few minutes, there was one hunter left standing who was frozen with fear and as white as a ghost.
"Return to the land from whence thou came!" A voice bellowed.
The hunter screamed in terror as he sprinted out of the mist.
As the hunter ran, someone was laughing as the mist disappeared, "Ah, that never gets old."
Stepping out of the shadows was a tall man with a black eye and a gray eye, black and yellow, shoulder-length hair and black and yellow face and body paint. He wore a tan outfit, a red belt, a golden earring in one ear, and obsidian arm bracelets on his right arm. He had an obsidian jaguar foot where his right foot was supposed to be. By his scent, he was another god.
