Maya crashes when she tries to show off her flying skills

Zatz was waiting for Maya in the forest for their date. He didn't know why Maya had asked him to meet her. Thankfully, he didn't have to wait too long for her.

He heard an eagle call, making him look up at the sky. A golden eagle was flying across the sky. Maya. Zatz smiled. Now it made sense why she wanted to meet up with him. He taught her how to fly not that long ago and she wanted to show off.

She gradually flew lower towards him. Zatz was about to join her in the night sky when she suddenly flew into a tree. Maya lost her balance and stumbled backwards into another tree. She ricocheted between trees for a bit until she landed on the ground, transforming back into her goddess form.

“Maya!” Zatz turned into a swarm of bats and flew to where she landed. She was laying on her back, wincing in pain. He turned back into himself, “Are you ok?”

“No, I'm not ok.” Maya said, “I have like thirty bruises now.”

“Can you stand?”

“Do I look like I want to stand right now? Just give me a minute.”

Zatz laid on the ground next to Maya. He wrapped his arms around her and held her close to his chest.

Maya groaned, hiding her face in his chest, “This is not how I imagined this would go. I wanted to show you how much I improved, and then I saw you and got distracted.”

Zatz looked down with a smile, “Hey, don't feel so bad, you did very well. I'd say you improved a lot.”

“But I literally crashed and burned.”

“Practice makes perfect. Even when you're an expert, you'll lose your balance. It happens to me a lot. Believe me, you were great.”

Maya looked up at Zatz with hopeful eyes, “Really?”

“Of course.” Zatz kissed the top of her head, making her feel better about crashing. How did she get so lucky with him?

“But you know, you were the one who distracted me in the first place, so this is your fault.”

Zatz chuckled, “And what about me distracted you?”

“You're too cute.” She hugged him a little tighter.

He smiled and stroked her hair, “Why, thank you.”

They laid there for a couple of minutes until Maya felt better enough to move. Thankfully, there were no more crashes that night.
