During a night in the mortal realm, Camazotz meets someone very special.

Camazotz normally traveled as a colony of bats, as it was easier and quicker. But this particular night in the mortal realm, he decided to be one bat. He wanted to enjoy the moonlight shining on him and the wind beneath his wings.

From miles away, Camazotz heard the noises of battle. He was getting a little tired anyway, so he decided to stop and see the fight. As he got closer to the fight, he saw two people in combat, but couldn't see them very well because of how fast they were moving. He perched upside-down on a branch to watch.

For a moment, the fighters were still and Camazotz could finally get a good look at them. One of the fighters was a pale man with a lean build and a large sword. The other fighter was a pale woman with white hair and purple face paint, a sword in her hands.

The woman caught Camazotz's eye. She was beautiful.

The man and woman clashed weapons again. Camazotz straightened himself up, captivated as he watched. The woman fought with such strength and was light on her feet. He couldn't look away from her.

The woman cried out as the man's sword cut her arm, Camazotz almost diving into the fray to help her. The woman raised her sword and it sparked lightning. With a shout, she charged at the man once more, clashing her sword with his. The lighting from her sword struck the man through his weapon. He yelled in pain for a while until he collapsed on the ground.

Camazotz was captivated. She was a strong warrior and carried a powerful weapon. He's never seen anyone like her.

The woman cradled her wounded arm and walked away from her opponent. Camazotz flew from his branch towards her to make sure she was alright. The cut wasn't at all fatal, but it didn't feel right to just leave her there.

The woman looked up and saw Camazotz as a bat. She wasn't afraid. What Camazotz did next, he'll admit, was quite foolish. He revealed his true form to her. He didn't know what came over him, he could've easily disguised himself as a mortal. He just felt like he had to.

If the woman wasn't afraid in battle or of a bat, she definitely was now. She gasped and her eyes grew wide, and it looked like she was about to run.

"Wait." Camazotz said, holding out his hand to her, "I just want to help."

The woman eyed him suspiciously, "You… want to help me. Why?"

"Because I want to make sure you're ok."

"I'll be fine."

"I know. I just want to be sure."

The woman stared at Camazotz. After a moment, she took his hand, letting him look at her wound. He took a bit of fabric he had with him and cleaned the blood off her arm as gently as he could. He was no healer, but even he knew it was merely a surface wound. It would heal on its own.

"You're quite the fighter." Camazotz said.

The woman looked up at Camazotz, briefly making eye contact before turning away with a scowl, "Uh, th-thank you." She said. Camazotz managed to see a small smile and a faintest shade of pink on her face. He decided not to say anything about it with a grin.

"May I ask where you learned to fight like that?" He asked.

"I'm from the Golden Mountains." She said.

"Ah, so you're a barbarian?"

"That's right."

"Well, now it all makes sense."

The woman smiled and turned to Camazotz, who had just finished cleaning her cut, "You're quite gentle for a hulking brute."

"Oh, uh… thank you." Camazotz prayed that the heat on his face was invisible, growing more intense at the sound of her soft gigging, "I am Camazotz, god of bats."
