Sunghoon paced back and forth outside the cabin, his phone clutched tightly in his hand. He glanced at the screen repeatedly.
Inside the cabin, Haewon sat at the wooden table, a book open in front of her, though her attention was far from its pages.
Suddenly, the silence was shattered by the shrill ringtone of Haewon's phone. She jumped, startled, before quickly reaching for the device. The caller ID displayed Minji's name, she swiped to answer.
"Minji? What's up?" Haewon greeted, her voice filled with concern.
"Haewon, you need to come quick! It's... it's not safe here," Minji's voice crackled through the phone, panicked and urgent.
Haewon's heart skipped a beat. "What's happening? Where are you?"
But before Minji could reply, Sunghoon burst into the cabin, a look of urgency in his eyes.
"Hae, we need to go. Now," he said, his voice urgent.
Haewon's pulse quickened at the urgency in his voice. "What's going on?" she demanded, her mind racing with worry.
"It's Minji," Sunghoon replied, his tone grave. "She's in trouble. Voids showed up where she is, and she's hiding."
Haewon's heart lurched at the mention of voids. How could they be showing up somewhere she wasn't? It defied everything she knew about their connection to her scarlett energy.
However, without another word, she rose from her seat, her mind racing with worry for her friend. "Let's go," she said.
Together, they embraced the vampire's gift of speed, darting through the forest like shadows, their movements a blur of motion as they raced towards Minji's location.
The wind whipped past Haewon's face as they sped through the dense trees, the urgency of the situation lending wings to their feet. Sunghoon kept pace beside her, his determination palpable in every stride.
Within moments, they reached the outskirts of the city, their arrival swift and unannounced. Haewon's heart pounded in her chest as they neared the venue where Minji was supposedly in danger.
With a final burst of speed, they arrived at a concert ground, the lively music and vibrant lights contrasting sharply with the tension in the air. Haewon's eyes scanned the crowd frantically, searching for any sign of Minji's distress.
But to her surprise, there was no chaos, no imminent danger. Instead, the concertgoers danced and laughed, oblivious to the turmoil that had spurred Haewon and Sunghoon into action.
Confusion and frustration bubbled up inside Haewon as she turned to Sunghoon, her expression demanding answers. "Where's Minji?"
She scanned the crowd once more, her eyes darting from face to face in search of Minji's familiar features. But before she could voice her growing unease, a voice called out from behind her.
