Haewon glanced over at Sunghoon, who seemed deep in thought. Their recent encounter in the city had left them both on edge, but they had managed to push through it together. They had just arrived back to the forest.
As they approached the cabin, Sunghoon finally broke the silence. "It's good to be back," he said, his voice calm but carrying an undertone of relief. "The city... it's too crowded. Too many people."
Haewon nodded, agreeing. "Yeah, it feels safer here. More... controlled." She paused, looking around the familiar clearing. "Do you think Sunoo will be able to keep an eye on things from the city?"
"Sunoo's resourceful," Sunghoon replied confidently. "If anyone can keep track of that man, it's him. But honestly, it's like he vanished into thin air. No sign of him since that day."
Haewon sighed. "It's unsettling. One moment he's there, the next he's gone. We can't let our guard down."
They entered the cabin, the wooden floors creaking softly under their feet. Sunghoon set their bags down and turned to Haewon. "Even though he's disappeared, it serves as a warning. We have to stay vigilant."
Haewon nodded, a determined look in her eyes. "We will. We've come too far to be caught off guard now."
As the days passed, they settled back into their routine of training and preparing for the inevitable confrontation with their main enemy. The mysterious stranger from the city lingered in Haewon's mind, a shadowy figure that kept her on edge. Sunoo kept them updated, but there was no news. It was as if the man had simply ceased to exist.
Back in the forest, life took on a rhythm of training and preparation. Sunghoon's focus shifted almost entirely to learning how to heal, driven by a newfound intensity that bordered on obsession. Each day, he pushed himself harder, spending hours trying to master the delicate art of healing, often to the point of exhaustion.
Haewon noticed the change in him. He had always been determined, but ever since they returned from the city, something seemed to be bothering him from the inside. He was more zoned out, his mind elsewhere even during their training sessions.
One evening, as they practiced in the dim light of dusk, Haewon observed Sunghoon closely. His frustration was palpable. He struggled to heal a small cut on his arm, his brow furrowed in concentration and his movements tense.
"Sunghoon," she said gently, stepping closer. "You're pushing yourself too hard. You need to take it slow."
Sunghoon didn't look up, his focus fixed on the wound that stubbornly refused to close. "I need to get this right, Haewon. We don't have time to waste."
She placed a hand on his arm, feeling the tension in his muscles. "What's really going on? Ever since we came back from the city, you've been different. Distracted."
