Just another day at work.
Jisoo approached me and informed me about the next plans and setup for the series. I pitched ideas that she approved, and she complimented how well I was doing, still diligently showing up at work after my fallout with Jennie. Everyone knows about my heartbreak.
"It left me unhinged, but it's bearable now," I told Jisoo, as she listened intently. She stands beside my chair with her mug in her right hand and pens in the other.
"Time eases the pain. And besides, I think I found happiness again." I resumed gleefully.
I lean over against my chair and Jisoo lightly slams her hand with pens on the table and says,
"That's great! You can find happiness by getting a new hobby or a pet, right?"
She has been telling me to find a new hobby, read a new book, or learn something new to shift my focus.
"Yes, I agree. But it's a person. She exudes a lover and a friend combined," I looked up at her, smiling like a schoolgirl talking about her crush.
"Oh, she finally confessed?" Jisoo seemed ecstatic, her face lighting up.
"I'm sorry, who?" I asked, really confused because she didn't even know Wendy.
"Seulgi," Jisoo said, giving me the widest smile I've ever seen.
"Seulgi? What do you mean she confessed? To whom?" I asked, baffled.
We both scrunched our eyebrows, squinting at each other. It was like everything around us stopped. Time froze, and we were lost.
"Hold on... who are we talking about again?" She asked, raising her palm in the air, her eyes getting bigger.
"No, who are YOU talking about? Who confessed to whom?" I asked.
"No, no. WHO... gives you happiness now?" She kept answering my question with another question.
"Wendy," I said loudly and clearly.
"Ah, I see. Wendy, hmm, who is she?" She asked, crossing her arms. She stood in a manner that suggested she was intrigued.
Then I rambled about how Wendy was my lawyer, but I had to find a new one because she couldn't be dating a client. And that, we've been getting to know each other for more than a month now, everything is going smoothly, blah blah.
I could see Jisoo's mind flying away, so I ended with, "Wendy became my ultimate band-aid."
"Okay... well, well, well... a band-aid." Her facial expressions and reactions were the total opposite of what she showed me 10 minutes ago.
She paused, then forced a smile, looking spaced out.
"See you at the... hmm, the... the thing, hmm... Okay?" She said.
What thing? What did she say?
She suddenly acted so weird, disoriented, and sketchy all at the same time.
Just another day at work that left me very puzzled.
