She found me staring at her in shock, sitting in the corner of the first floor. I slowly stood up. Her face brightened up, and her eyes beamed with delight. Our jaws dropped.
The moment our eyes met; we knew. That silent look of endearment, we knew. The look of agreement that we'd date, and we wouldn't look back ever again.
We blinked away tears as we didn't want to cause a scene, but we couldn't hide it entirely.
Watching her walk closer to me, I know feelings are authentic. The adrenaline rush, slow motion, and muted surroundings—our only focus is on each other.
I don't know if any words could encompass all these emotions and their raw intensity.
Seulgi, the girl I love the most in this world, is right in front of me.
"I waited. I was upstairs... I waited," she choked for a bit, catching her breath slowly. I know she wants to burst into tears of happiness.
I threw my arms around her neck, closed my teary eyes, and hugged her so tight that I wanted her to feel my happiness overflowing through our veins.
"I'm not late this time," she whispered, her lips touching my ear.
"Yes. Perfectly in time," I whispered back, burying my face in the crook of her neck.
My heart skipped a beat.
I pulled away and looked at her, "But your reply...," I asked.
"I thought you backed out too. I've been here the whole time. I arrived at 7:30 pm," she answered, pulling my head against her shoulder, her hand on the back of my head.
She locked her arms around me and said, "If you only knew how much you feel at home. You're my safe space."
We wanted to laugh at how silly and foolish we were for communicating badly today.
The shop was empty, with only us standing beside my table, while the staff started cleaning out the place. We decided to drive to my place since it's nearer to the shop. We stayed at my favorite spot, my back porch.
Throughout the night, we talked about everything under the sun. We had an impromptu picnic on my back porch, devouring the takeouts.
"Are you sure? Tomorrow things could be different," I teased her, suggesting she might have doubts.
"You surprised me with a proposal I couldn't resist. I am sure," she replied.
"I'm not easy, you know. I'm a handful..." I warned her playfully.
"I already know that," Seulgi quickly replied in a low-pitched voice.
She placed her head on my shoulder.
"I can see myself with you, in your extremely low moments and incredible high points in life," she said, pausing. She lifted her head and faced me.
"I could be present for both, and it wouldn't be too much for me to handle," she said warmly.
I have flaws, but she helps bring out the best in me. She fills the cracks between my scars that I didn't know I needed.
I smiled, feeling butterflies sway in my stomach. They even feel at home with her.
We were silent for a long time.
I watched her watching the sunrise.
