Emily's POV

"So you finally decided to talk to me after a few weeks. It's probably been a month though" I said.

He rolled his eyes,"Just wait till we get to the beach." He said.

"You're taking me to the beach so we can talk?"

"I know, no one will probably be there anyways so..."

We arrived at the beach and we both sat on the dock. Our feet dangling over the water. We took or shoes off and set them aside.

"I'm sorry" he said.

"About what" I questioned.

"The fight...5 or 6 weeks ago" he trailed.

I looked out onto the ocean.

"Are you gonna say you forgive me or...wait, let me guess. You're gonna go talk to Carter about this and make sure he's okay with you talking to me or something" Calum said.

"What is that supposed to mean" I asked.

"You tell him every-"

"We broke up" I said.

"What? But you guys looked so happy and...what happened?"

"Listen to what you just said. 'You guys looked so happy.' Key word, looked. You might've never known. I could've been broken inside. We actually broke up the day that the two of us got into an argument."

"Well, sorry I didn't know" he said.

"Everyone thinks my life is perfect. Like it's all smiley and happy. But guess what? It's not. My parents left me at the age of 6 and left me with Michael's family. I don't even remember or know who my parents are. Heck, I don't even know what they look like! At the age of 14, I went through high school suffering being bullied. Bullied for who I was. What I looked like. I've never told anyone since it was too painful to bring back. Everyday I would come home with a bruise or cut or new scar. But if always lied and said it was from soccer practice. So Karen made me quit the team. At the age of 16, one of my best friends left me. Now, I hate him so much I can't even stand being in a room alone with him for 2 hours. Remember that? Calum, I'm not happy. I've suffered through life. Sometimes I think I should just give up. But then there's Michael and I don't want him to see me hurt. Cause he might do it to himself. I'm broken, can't you see?" I said as tears filled my eyes.

"Look, I'm sorry that I made fun of you for all those years. I didn't know you were that broken on the inside."

"If I would've known I probably wouldn't have teased you for being a virgin and stuff. But you know I can't help it. I was fooled by the smile you always wore on your face" he said.

"Who knew that one fake smile could hide so much" I said.

I wiped my eyes and took my shoes and made a run for it. I ran and ran and ran. I looked around. I don't know where I am anymore. That's when I decided to stop.

Calum's POV

I drove back go Michael's house."Did Emily show up back here" I questioned.

"No" Michael trailed.

He grabbed me by the shirt collar,"FUCK THOMAS. What did you do to her and where did she go?"

"I didn't do anything first of all and I don't know where she went. We were at the beach and then one moment later she got up started running and left." I said.

"We have to go find her," he said getting his phone.

"I'll drive" I said.

We got into my car and started to drive to the beach. We drove around it to see if there were any signs of her. Michael was trying to call her.
