They don't speak anymore. They hadn't said even a word to each other, not even exchanged a text since that one night where they ended it all,
Or rather where he ended it all.
When he moved to Barcelona, the pair had already been together for over two years. The love they had for each other was so strong that anyone could see it. But the distance really put a strain on that. And on top of that, Pedri was always busy. Whether that was training, playing matches or interviews, he never had the time it seemed. He played so many games during his first season at Barcelona that the two just couldn't keep what they had going.
And with a massive pain in both their hearts, they ended it.
Truth is, both of them had been with people since then but it's just never been the same; they hadn't felt anything as strong as the connection they had since they broke up. Neither of them. The relationships they had lasted only a few months at maximum because they just couldn't make that connection with anyone else.
It was like the break up had broken something inside of them both and neither could pick up the pieces to place them back together again.
She sighed, putting down a box as she looked around the semi-empty apartment. She moved for the opportunities, not for him.
Or so she told herself.
She heard the doorbell ring and went to go open the door. She smiled, seeing her best friend who had moved from Tenerife to Barcelona the year prior.
"This place is insane!" Rosa exclaimed as the two walked in. "Can I move in with you?"
Lara smiled, "I do have an extra room."
"I'll be staying over often, then." the brunette said, falling onto the sofa. "What do you need help with?"
"Just unpacking." she said. "You know, clothes and stuff. All my furniture is already here."
"You did this on your own?" Rosa looked around at the assembled furniture that was already set up.
"No," she shook her head. "Mati helped me."
"No surprise." Rosa said, getting up. "Okay, what do you want to start with?"
"Probably clothes." Lara said, as she looked through the boxes, searching for the one that was labeled with her clothes.
"Hey," she felt her best friend's hand on her shoulder. "you're okay?"
"Yeah," Lara immediately smiled at her Rosa. "I'm just stressed, you know with the whole move, some boxes haven't come yet and starting the new job, it's all a lot. Especially the job, this is a massive opportunity."
"You sure it's not because - " Rosa started but she got interrupted by her best friend.
"No." she said. "It's not him. I've closed that chapter long ago."
"Okay," Rosa said, not convinced but decided to let it ago. She knew her friend was tired and stressed and didn't want to push her any further. "This one has your clothes."
"Ah, good." Lara walked up and cut the tape from the top with a knife. "There's still a few boxes with clothes coming."
"How much do you have?" Rosa laughed.
"A lot are my pieces." she said.
"Ah, yes, fashion designer Lara." Rosa said and they both laughed.
They soon got joined by Lara's older brother and within just a few hours, all the boxes were already unpacked. They all sat on the sofa, tired from the whole day.
