"That one is pretty." Pedri says as he points to a leash decorated in little flowers.

"Yeah, it is but isn't Nilo a boy?" I ask as I turn my head to look at him stood behind me. "I mean, we can still get it."

"No, yeah, fair enough." He nods. "What about this one?" He asks as he walks past me and takes off the hook a light blue leather leash.

"That's pretty." I say as I walk up to him. "Yeah, I like this one."

"Me too." He smiles. "Okay, so that one goes in. Now we need one of those extendable leashes."

"They're here." I say and he nods as he follows me.

"Good morning, do you need any help?" A woman around our age walks up to us. "We have a discount if you buy three leashes you pay for two."

"I think we're okay for now, thank you." Pedri says and I smile at the woman.

"No problem, call me if you need anything." She smiles and walks off.

"Thirty metres is wild." He says as he looks at a leash.

"That's - " I'm about to say but my phone ringing stops me. I look down at my watch and see it to be Rosa. Pedri looks through the leashes as I get my phone out of my handbag. "It's Rosa, hold on a minute."

He nods as I accept the call and bring the phone up to my ear.

"What's - " I start but get interrupted.

"Oh my God, Lara, oh my god." She says. "Oh my god. Oh my actual god."

"What's wrong? What's happening?" I ask and Pedri looks at me questioningly as I shrug.

"You won't fucking guess who showed up at my door last night." She says.

"I'm confused, who?" I ask.

"Mark." She says and I can hear the excitement in her voice.

"Seriously?" I ask.

"Yeah and guess what?" She says.

"No idea, you're gonna have to help me out here." I say but I can hear her excitement so I suspect what it is.

"He manned up and now we're finally dating." She says and I smile widely. I knew it.

"No way!" I say and hear her laugh. Well, giggle might I say. I haven't heard her this happy in ages. "Rosa, I'm so happy for you right now. I think you two are so good for each other."

"I'm so happy. I'm so fucking happy. I haven't been able to stop smiling." She says and I smile. "He just appeared out of no where and, I don't know, he said how much I mean to him and how much he likes me and hates being apart from me and then he started ranting about how he's scared that I don't feel the same but I shut him up with a kiss."

"Look at you." I raise my eyebrows. Pedri shows me a leash and I nod, showing him a thumbs up as he puts it in our basket and takes my hand, leading me towards the dog beds. "I'm really happy for you. I'm glad he manned up, you both deserve this. I can tell he's a great guy and if you're happy then so am I."

"I'm so happy." She says. "I haven't felt like this ever, so alive, it's crazy."

"I know exactly what you mean." I say.

"Wow, I love this feeling." She says and I laugh. "I wanted to ask if you and Pedri wanted to come over for dinner tonight to mine as well? Mark is staying for three days so I thought it could be good if you and Pedri too could get to know him a bit better because he'll be around a lot more now."
