Liv

My eyes flutter open. Struggling as the bright sun beams through the window. I feel so rested now. Never in my life would I say that as I lay in a hospital bed. I wiggle my legs over to feel nothing beside me. I groan as I see my mate pacing back and forth. I sense a small annoyance from him.

I clear my throat as the sound of him talking to someone on the phone wakes me. "Talking to your girlfriend?" I say with a tired voice.

He turns around. Hanging up the phone right away. He walks to my bedside with a grin on his face. "My fiancée is right here. All the women I need." He kisses my lips softly. Making me arch into him from his intoxicating smell. "I assume you slept well?"

I pick myself up. Sat upright as Travis takes a seat next to me. "Surprisedly. Yes." He pulls me in close to him. And my brain goes straight to his call. "Who called so early?" I mumble.

Travis laughed as I rub my eyes. "Early? Baby it's almost 10."

I scowl at him. I look over to the clock on the wall. Reading, 9:42am. "What? We got here at.. And we're just waking up now? How the heck did we sleep in?" I groan in confusion.

Again he laughs at me. And I burn holes in his head. "You slept in. I been up since 6."

"And you didn't wake me?" I cross my arms.

He runs his hand up my jaw and to my ear. I push him back. Mad that the day has gone by. "You looked too peaceful. I couldn't wake you."

"Mh. Whatever." I throw the blanket off me and asked my question again.

"I had to talk to Mason." Laying back with his hand behind his head. He huffed. He sound annoyed. Which means there's more to the call.

I finish stretching my body. I walk around the bed and walk to him. "We've been gone for one day. What happen already?"

He grasp hold of my waist. Burying himself in my chest. I giggle and pull his head up. Staring him down to tell me.

"Him, Gamma, and a few warriors will be here soon." He mange to say.

My brows creased. "What happen? Why are they coming all this way to tell us? Travis?"

He rubs my back to sooth my nerves. "Nothing with the pack."

"Then why are they coming? Did you ask them to?" He nods his head. And returning back to my chest but I pull away.

He holds me tighter, not letting go. I stare my mate down. Demanding an answer. "Luminis needs us. Clearly they can't handle this wolf problem by themselves. I called Mason to round up a few men to stay until we can handle the problem."

I sigh as I realize his call. "We need to talk to Mery. Let her know. They can't show up unannounced." I grab for my phone but Travis push it down.

"I'd already spoke to your sister and aunt." He says.

When I ask what they said. He went on to tell me the argument he and Mery had. Honesty it sounded more like them bickering. My jaw drop as did my heart. I couldn't understand why Mery is acting this why. She began to push us away. Is she ashamed? Was all of this too soon? Has someone say something to her? What the hell is going on? Why the change?

"She won't tell me what she's hiding. Maybe with you she would. Either way. Something is not siting right here. We'll fix it baby." He adds on.

I nod my head. Trying to take everything in. From the moment we got here. It has all been on edge. Mable acting a strange. To my meeting and then Mery telling us about the wolves. On top of that. Travis and I got attack while we take guard and Mery had the audacity to say it's not our problem. As if we can just stand by and wait for them to attack the inside and hurt the people I love. The people I'm trying to allow to be my home again.
