Aurora's pov

A heavy knock on the door jolted me up from my slumber. I groaned rubbing my eyes and glancing at the tiny, broken old clock laying beside me on the floor, it read, 3:00 am sharp.
What could they possibly want from me at this hour?. I wondered.

I got up from the floor and approached the door.
I certainly wasn't expecting it to be Hannah of all people.
"Hannah, what are you doing here?"
She ignored my question and barged straight into my room shutting the door behind her.

"Hannah, what's going on?. What are you doing up at this hour?"
Shhh. She hushed me by placing her finger on her lip.
"Our pack is under attack by the dark moon pack". She whispered.

My heart raced as fear pulsed through me.
This certainly wasn't just a petty fight but a war. I heard rumors of the alpha of the dark moon pack. The rumors about him painted a ruthless picture. He's far worse than my father could ever be. He's remorseless and brutal.

Hannah grabbed ahold of my shoulders, giving them a light squeeze. "Relax we're going to be okay".
I was surprised by Hannah's calm behavior. She seemed relaxed and composed. Unlike me my body trembled with fear.

"Now is the time for us to get away from this place". She said.
Are you crazy!. I hissed, shoving her hands away.
There's no way I'm going to leave this room!

"If we continue to choose to stay here then we're definitely going to die. This is the only chance we have to escape" she stated.

No, I'm not going anywhere. It isn't safe for us to be out there especially now, when there's a war going on. We could get ourselves killed. I argued.

"Fine stay here then and be their slave until the day you die. Or maybe they would end up killing you themselves like they did with your mom". She snapped and then turned on her heels yanking the door open and walked out.

Hannah wait!. I shouted running behind her.
She's being reckless and impulsive. She could get hurt or worse killed.
I run into the hallway, my steps faltered when I saw the scene unfold infront of my eyes.

Our pack members were laying on the floor covered in blood, bodies were scattered all over, the place was a war zone and Hannah suddenly decides to use this as a opportunity to flee the pack. I need to find her before she ends up like this but where do I start looking for her.

I run towards the kitchen. I suddenly halt hearing  the sound of heavy footsteps echoeing down the hallway. A yelp almost escaped my lips when  I'm being yanked into the storage closet.
Relief washed over me when I saw it was non other than Hannah.

I completely froze when I saw two unfamiliar men stalk past us.
I held my breath, certain they would hear my thunderous heartbeat.
After an agonizing wait, Hannah nudged the closet door open.

"They're gone, let's go". She urged, her nails digging into my arm as she dragged me along with her.
We hurried through the kitchen door. I gasped glancing around the place. It was certainly a gruesome sight. Most of our pack members were all dead.

I waited as Hannah listened for any noises. I tried to listen too but my hearing wasn't as good as a werewolf. "It's clear, let's go" She whispered.
We quickly made our way across the courtyard and into the woods.

With each step we took into the woods, my heart pounded in my chest, the pulse of fear and determination driving me forward.
Every rustle of leaves, every snapping  twig became a potential threat that could expose us.

We caught sight of the road just as I heard a loud growl behind us. Everything screamed in me not to turn back but I knew that was a mistake.
"Run as fast as you can". Hannah said, gripping my wrist in a tight hold.

"Run!". Hannah yelled dragging me along with her.
My heart pounded against my chest, my breaths came in ragged gasps and every muscle in my body burned but I couldn't stop.

I made the mistake of turning back and felt my gut wrench deep in my stomach when I caught sight of the wolf chasing us. My feet tripped over an exposed root and I went flying to the ground.

I fell hard to the ground grazing my knee and hands on the coarse ground.
I winced when Hannah tried helping me get up, a sharp pain radiated through my limbs, leaving me helpless.

In an instant the wolf was on top of me, growling and snarling viciously at me, revealing it's bloody razor sharp canines.
My blood froze when it's large head moved closer to my face.

My body trembled as tears streamed down my face. At that point I knew death was  invetiable as it stared at me with it's golden orbs.
I shut my eyes, bracing for death and hoping it would be quick and painless however it never came.

The distinct sound of bones snapping made me open my eyes. My gaze met the intense eyes of a man.
This man was strikingly attractive, he was tall with a muscular body that exuded power and authority.
He had a defined jaw line, a slightly crooked nose and short dark hair which complimented his flawless olive skin.

For some odd reason I couldn't look away from his icy blue eyes, I felt drawn to them.
Out of the blue three tall and bulky men emerged, standing beside him glaring daggers at me.

"Why isn't she dead yet?". The guy with the red hair asked as he shot me a glare.

"She's my mate" The one with icy blue orbs claimed shocking me.
