Roman's pov

A long sigh left my lips, placing down the pen and leaning against the chair and rubbing my temples.
I've been in my office since morning, I had a lot of impending work that desperately needed my attention.

I've had a few meetings during the day, with some of my pack members
And now I'm going over the documents for the construction of a new mall.

Roman? A familiar voice called out.
My gaze snapped to the door.
Mia, what are you doing here? I ask, my voice sounding a little strained.

"I hope I'm not bothering you?"

Is there something you need? I quipped returning back to my work.
"Actually yes, I stopped by to discuss about the masquerade ball"

Mia and I have a long history together and she being around me makes me a little bit uncomfortable now that I have a mate.

Speaking of her I haven't seen her since this morning. I miss her that I so badly want to go to her but I have pack duties that urgently requires my attention.

Okay. Go ahead and tell me what's the problem. I urged wanting to get her out of my sight quickly.

Before Mia could speak the strong scent of vanilla and honey invaded my nostrils making my wolf purr in the back of my mind.

Aurora stood at the doorway with a tray of food in her hands, looking nervous and afraid as always.

"Come in little mate" I smiled, excited to see her.

"I thought you might be hungry since you missed dinner so I brought you something to eat" She spoke nervously.

Thank you. I said with a small smile tugged at my lips.
She nodded, mirroring my smile and was about to turn to leave but I swiftly pulled to her to me and onto my lap.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, inhaling her intoxicating scent.

Mia cleared her throat drawing my attention.
I was so focused on my mate that I completely forgot Mia was even here.

"So this is your mate, the one everyone's been talking about"
Mia frowned giving Aurora a once over glance.

Yes, she is. I purred once again shoving my face into the crook of her neck. Her scent is so addictive and soothing, it feels like home to me and my wolf.

Well it's a pleasure meeting you Aurora. Mia said shooting Aurora a tight lipped smile.
I could see the hostility Mia held for my mate and it irked me.

I tore my face away from her neck and focused my attention on Mia who's currently seething.

It's luna to you Mia. I gritted out narrowing my eyes at her.
My bad. She said faking a smile. Anyway I think we should get started?

You know what let's do this another time or maybe you could just ask Emily to help you out.

But this is-Mia, please. I spoke cutting her off immediately. She was beginning to get on my nerves.

I would like to spend sometime with my mate alone. I said placing a kiss on Aurora's cheek making her blush.

Mia nodded rising from the chair.
Of course alpha. She muttered walking to the door.

As soon as Mia left Aurora spoke.
"Who is she?" Aurora asked as she cocked her head and pursed her lips.

She's Matthew sister.

Oh. She muttered. She doesn't seem to like me.

I smiled. My mate wasn't as naive as I thought so, she could see right through everyone.
