SORRY THIS HAS TAKE LONGER THAN USUAL. I'm currently working and I was working on Saturday and Sunday for 12 hours and had like 6 hours sleep both days and I had Monday off and planned to write the chapter but I was too exhausted and now I'm working for 8 hours during the week and I passed out as soon as I got home today but it's about 1 am so I quickly wrote this. 😳😁😄

LAURA'S POV

"She's in surgery right now but she is stable for the moment, that's all I can say." The doctor says as he holds his clipboard. I sigh and try to read his notes but he moves it closer.

"How long will the surgery last?!" I ask frantically wiping my tears as I move from side to side not being able to keep still. Nobody has told me anything useful about Alena since they brought her in.

"It's hard to know considering her condition. She trapped her arm pretty badly and lost a lot of blood." The doctor explains. I didn't need him to remind me. I almost collapsed when I got the phone call, I couldn't believe Alena had gotten into a car accident.

I just nod as I walk back over to the seating area and sit back down. It was 10 and Meadow was still at her friends birthday party. I was planning on picking her up when Alena was supposed to, and tell her then before coming back to the hospital. I didn't want to ruin the party for Meadow and I hope that Alena doesn't wake up whilst I pick Meadow up because I'm the only one at the hospital.

"Alena Jackson." I hear a deep voice from down the hallway. I quickly look up and see Paul at the desk. I stand up immediately and see him start heading down towards my direction. I catch his eye and he frantically walks over.

"How is she?!" Paul ask as he looks around clueless to where she is right now. I didn't think that he would be back until tomorrow but after I called him he must of arranged a flight for an earlier time to get back as soon as possible.

"I really have no idea. All I know is that she's in surgery right now, but she lost a lot of blood Paul." I say sobbing. I got the phone call about the accident whilst Alena was in the ambulance so we both arrived at the hospital at the same time. I recall seeing her strapped to a stretcher being pushed through to surgery. I hoped that her condition wasn't too bad and they would just take her to a hospital bed but when they continued down the hallway to the critical patient area that's when it hit me that she had been hurt pretty badly.

"Holy shit." He says rubbing his head and slamming his hands against the wall aggressively.

"Paul, Meadow is still at her party, she'll need picking up anytime soon." I say remembering. I didn't mind going to pick her up. I needed to fresh air as this hospital was starting to make me feel sick. "I don't mind picking her up but I don't think it would be good to bring her here."

"You don't need to do that. I'll give one of my sisters a call."Paul says patting my shoulder. I nod and wipe my nose, sitting back down. Paul walk off down the hallway to make his call and I sat and stared at the wall waiting for the doctor to come back with good news.

PAUL'S POV

I walk back over to the waiting room and see Laura still crying with her face down in her hands. I sit down and rub her back comfortingly. I can't imagine the pain she's feeling right now. Her best friend, who she has known almost her whole life has just been in a car accident and her life is at risk.

20 minutes pass but it feels like hour before the doctor comes back to inform us of Alena's status.

"Is she going to be ok?" Laura asks quickly as we both stand up.

"The surgery was successful and she is stable for now. We have moved her to a hospital room which you both are allowed to visit her. I can take you to her room now."

I let out a huge breathe that I didn't know I was holding and me and Laura look at each other with relief written all over both of our faces. We follow the doctor to the room that Alena is in and he opens the door.

"Thank you." I say as I hold my hand out to shake the doctors hand. He returns the gesture and leaves the room, closing the door.

"Oh, Alena." Laura says as she walks over to where Alena is laying and strokes her head.

I sit down on the opposite side of her bed and grab her hand, holding it in mine. Her hand was cold and all I wanted was for her to squeeze mine back.

"I warned her to stop using her phone whilst driving." Laura sighs as she takes a seat.

"She's too stubborn for her own good." I say as I look up at Alena's face. She has cuts over her nose, cheek and forehead and bruises to match. I hate seeing her like this. She looked so fragile and small.

"I'm going to wrap her in bubble wrap as soon as she gets out of her. I don't think I've ever been so shell shocked as when I got the phone call." Laura says. She pulls out her phone. "It's nearly 11." She says as she puts her phone back in her pocket. "I'll go ask at the desk what the visitation rules are." I nod as Laura stands up and leaves the room.

I look back down at Alena and stroke her cheek, trying to be as gentle as possible. This wasn't how I imagined the first time seeing each other after two weeks of being away.

"What am I going to do with you eh?" I mumble as I push fallen pieces of hair out of her face.
