"Thank you so much for doing this." Paul says as Meadow makes her way into my lounge room. Paul had a meeting today with his manager and other people about a potential part in another movie so I said that Meadow could come stay at my place for the day.
"It's no problem! I'll call you if anything happens but we should be fine." I have a little sister who's now 16 but I used to look after her when my parents were out or away so I'm a pretty responsible person and know how to look after people.
"Ok. Meadow behave for Alena and do what she says otherwise they'll be consequences." He says pointing at Meadow. I doubt she will be any trouble, she doesn't seem like the bratty, stuck up kind of child.
"Dad!" She said embarrassed. "I'm not going to cause any trouble." She responded defensively. Paul gave her a suspicious look. I know some children can be mischievous around their parents but will be as good as gold when in someone else's care.
"Ok! Ok!" Paul says giving up. "I'll be back at 6:30, that's fine right?" He turns to me. I roll my eyes at his apprehensiveness.
"Paul it's absolutely fine! You should get going before you're late." I say laughing.
He jumps slightly realising we've been talking for quite some time and looks down at his watch.
"You're right." He says. He kisses Meadows head as she groans and then says goodbye to both of us as he gets in his car.
"Wow, I thought he'd never leave!" I said exaggerating an irritated tone. Meadow giggles and picks up her bag and I lead her into the lounge. "Let the fun begin!" I say grinning at her. She perks up, I'm guessing Mrs Parker really is a boring carer. "Wanna' make a cake?" I ask Meadow. I learnt how to cook and bake back in New York because my mum, dad and grandparents are all Italian so my nonna taught me all of her amazing recipes.
"Sure that sounds fun." Meadow agrees smiling. All children love making cakes and especially eating them after.
"What's you're favourite type of cake?" I ask as I flip through my recipe book.
"Chocolate cake! That's dad's favourite also." She said peeping over my shoulder. I continue looking through the book and find a recipe for a chocolate cake which I've done before.
"Do you like Oreos?" I ask Meadow. Everyone likes Oreos but ya never know.
"Yep! Do you have any?" She asks looking up at me. I nod whilst reaching up and opening one of my kitchen cupboards. I pull out a packet smirking. "Chocolate Oreo cake it is then!" She declares. This should be fun.
We get out all the ingredients and start mixing them together.
40 minutes later the cakes are baked and all that's left to do it decorate it and make it look like a masterpiece.
"You're really good at decorating." Meadow compliments me. I laugh slightly. Maybe I should open up a bakery?
"Well I am an artiste!" I say with a fake french accent causing Meadow to giggle loudly.
We finish the cake and clean up the mess in the kitchen which looked like a bomb had hit. We decide to wait until Paul comes to pick up Meadow until we try a slice.
"Do you want to watch some TV?" I ask Meadow as we sit staring at the cake, trying to resist it.
"Sure." She says politely.
We plop ourselves down on the couch and I throw a thick fur throw over the both of us and switch on Netflix. I hand the remote over to Meadow so she can choose.

Before we know it there's a knock at the door. I look at the time and see that it's 7pm already.
"That should be your dad." I say as I get up. I hear Meadow groan as she stays cuddled up on the couch. I laugh quietly to myself. Am I really that fun to be around?
I open the door and see Paul standing on my porch with a takeout bag. Chinese to be precise. Good choice.
"Sorry I'm late, I picked up a takeout before I came over." Paul explained. Does he really think I have better things to do? Spending time with a 10 year old all day is the most fun I've had in a long time.
"Don't worry about it, we didn't even realise it was that late." Meadow appeared next to me as I reassured Paul it wasn't a problem.
"We was watching TV and you came before the good bit happened." Meadow said sticking her tongue out.
"Well Miss Moody, I actually brought us take out for the three of us, if you're okay with our company for an extra couple hours?" Paul suggests.
I look at Meadow and she has a pleading look on her face. How can I resist that face?
"Sure that sounds fun." I say grinning. "We made a awesome chocolate Oreo cake so we can have that after." I say.
