"I'm just not a confident flyer." I say glancing at Paul and trying not to look near the window. Meadow was seated at the window, and couldn't get any more excited. I don't blame her, she's going to see her mom who she hasn't seem for a while. I on the other hand, was seated nearest to the aisle so that I didn't have to endure seeing how far up in the sky we were.
"You flew from New York to California though, and you were fine." He says trying to comfort me. It wasn't going to happen.
"Yeah, but that was over land. We're flying over the ocean." I state as if he what he said was stupid. I didn't like the idea of crashing in the ocean. Sure I can swim, but we would be stranded and I typically skip leg day so I would sink to the bottom within 30 minutes.
"Don't worry about it." Meadow says taking her eyes away from the view. "Planes rarely crash." She says casually. Paul stifles a laugh as my eyes widen and look at him like I'm going to murder somebody for making me get on this plane.
"Don't listen to her." Paul says once Meadow sticks her earphones in and starts watching a movie. "She isn't very sensitive towards people's fears."
"At least she didn't tell me the statistics of plane crashes." I say looking around frantically. I just wanted this flight to be over but it hadn't even been an hour so the fact that we had five was beginning to dawn on me.
"I can if you want me to." He teases with a smile still playing on his lips.
"You're loving this aren't you?" I scoff as my hands continue to grip the arm chair like my life depended on it. My life does depend on it.
"No... No!" He says trying to contain his smile. I roll my eyes as I look away from him and to the people across from us. Everyone seemed so relaxed and then there was me. A full grown women, panicking about flying for five hours. "Take a nap. It will help time go quicker." Paul suggests. He probably realised that I am genuinely terrified and has decided that he should be nice to me other wise I'll have a nervous breakdown.
"How could I possible take a nap?" I ask. I had too much adrenaline rushing through my body to calm down.
Paul shrugs his shoulders. "Just lay your head on my lap." He says.
I sigh and lay me head down on his lap and he begins to stroke his fingers through my hair, attempting to calm me down. Before I knew it, I was drifting off to sleep.

"See! I told you so. We didn't crash and burn!" Meadow says cheerfully as she pulls her suitcase along towards the rental car.
"Yep!" I say cheerfully although inside I'm still crying thinking about having to fly back in two weeks time.
"Alright! Let's get in and head to the house! Paul shouts. He had a place nearby the beach that he had brought when Meadow lived out here with her mom so that he didn't have to stay in hotels during the times that he would visit her.
"Shotgun!" I call quickly and Meadow sticks her tongue out playfully to me. I laugh as I open the door and get in.
This was my first time in Hawaii so I was pretty stoked to be here. I had never even left the US so this was an achievement in itself.
