"I can't believe you haven't brought them anything! Did you not realise that Christmas Day is tomorrow?" I ask Paul as we drive towards the village in Sitka to have a look around the shops. Paul had told me earlier that he hadn't brought his brother and sister anything because he was too busy planning his mom and dad's gifts.
"I kept forgetting that I needed to get them something. Thank god you reminded me this morning otherwise I wouldn't have remembered to get them something." Paul says as he steps on the gas more to get to the village quicker. It was about one in the afternoon and the shops would be closing very soon so we quickly got ready and were making our way there as soon as possible.
"Well aren't you lucky then." I say shaking my head at him. We pulled up on the side walk and got out the car. There aren't many people living here in the village so we didn't need to worry about parking the car. "So what are you looking to buy them?" I ask Paul as he takes my hand and we cross the road to head towards a little gift shop that was on the other side of the street.
"I don't have a clue. I'm terrible with gift ideas so I thought that you could help me." Paul says smiling down at me and pulling me into him wrapping one arm around my shoulder. I roll my eyes sighing before mumbling 'typical men' which Paul hears as he lets out a small laugh.
"Well what do they like?" I ask Paul as I don't really know them all that well myself as I had only just met them a few days ago.
"Amy likes home stores and buying candles, Ashlie likes clothes and makeup, she's a girly girl and Cody likes Star Wars." He explains simply.
"Okaaaay, well you and Cody share something in common." I laugh. We go into the gift shop and begin to look around. It didn't look very big from the outside but there was a lot of things inside to buy. "We should be able to find some nice presents in here." I say to Paul as I glide down the aisle as he stands dumbfounded at the entrance.
I turn around and see Paul with his hands in his pockets as he carelessly walks down the aisle barely looking at anything. I can already tell that this is going to take a while.
"What about these?" I ask Paul as I hold them up for him to see. He turns around and makes his way over to me. "For Amy?" I say as he takes the set of candles from my hand. It was a large gift wrapped set of scented candles.
"Would you like these?" He asks as he looks up from examining them.
"Yeah." I shrug
"Alright, I'll put them in the basket." He says as he chucks it in. I shudder and roll my eyes resisting the urge to mutter 'typical men' once more.
"Maybe she prefers broken candles huh?" I ask Paul sarcastically and he just gives me a goofy smile.
We stroll around the store some more and find more and more gifts until we have enough for each Ashlie, Amy and Cody. Paul would never have been able to pick them out without me so god knows how he has been able to buy people gifts before me. We loaded them into the car and decided to grab some coffee and a little bite to eat before we headed back to the house.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting for my moms christmas dinner." Paul says shaking his head once we sit down with our drinks and food.
"A year maybe?" I ask Paul smartly whilst laughing.
"Yeah a year but it feels like 10 years." He smiles.
"It's that good huh?" I ask as I stir my coffee. The weather was cold and rainy here so I was looking forward to having a warm drink.
"You'll understand what I mean tomorrow." He nods.
"What did you buy Meadow? Or did you forget her presents too." I tease.
"She wanted a new camera and she's asked for another dog but I'm not sure about getting another one. What do you think?"
"If you get a pup then it should be well behaved plus I don't think it will be too different than owning one." He nods.
"Do you want to try some of this?" Paul asks me and I look at his sandwich and nod.
"Sure." I say and he rips off a piece so I open my mouth. He laughs as I try to bite his finger. "Mmm that's good." I nod.
