You stumbled backwards in shock, clutching your middle as the blood started to stain your dress. You looked up at her in a panic and her face was paler than the white walls in this room, but it was also washed over with relief.

Still happy it wasn't her.

The crowd was rushing towards the exit, the sound of a gunshot only spurring on their own panic and Steve's blood ran cold when he heard it.

Three seconds.

In all of three seconds he knew it was you, he knew something happened, and he needed to find you.

Now.

He went towards where you had disappeared and saw the girl who you were speaking to before running in her heels out of a door. She looked spooked and he grabbed her by the shoulders, demanding,

"Where is she?"

She was surprised by the man handling at first, but then processed who had gripped her so tightly and smirked, a bloodied hand coming up to push her hair behind her ear smugly.

"If you hurry, maybe you'll make it in time to say goodbye."

He let her go after processing what she meant, not having time to arrest her, but knowing SHIELD was collecting people outside and nobody slips from their fingers.

He pulled his phone out to call an ambulance as he bolted for the door, his heart pumping in his ears, blocking the noise out. He practically ripped the door off its hinges when he jerked it open, explaining where the party was into the receiver, and a moment later the phone dropped from his hand to the floor when he spotted you against the far wall.

In another second, he was sliding to his knees next to you, his hand going over yours as it pressed on your middle.

"Y/n," His voice was cracked, and he tried to ignore the blood dripping from your lips, but he couldn't as he searched your eyes that were fading quickly, "Here."

He pulled your hand back a bit to check and you whimpered at the action, so he put it back and went to lift you, but you stopped him with a hand to his arm.

"'s okay." You forced a smile, the taste of copper and the burning heat in your middle making it shaky.

"No," His voice was stern, but his tears gave him away, "Come on, please, don't do this."

The strained, broken voice was small, but it brought you a comfort, wondering if that was similar to the voice he held when he was younger.

"Bet they were pissed." You choked out while your eyes grew heavy.

He pursed his lips, having had a feeling what happened upstairs was all you.

"An honorable guest has requested we show this film before dinner."

The man announced, putting the projector on, and Steve scrunched his eyebrows curiously before watching what could only be described as footage and receipts of every illegal deed the Kellers were involved with.

The audience was silenced in horror, only watching the terrible events play out in complete shock while Steve called for SHIELD because this was more than enough proof to take down at least half the people in this room, but he wondered why you didn't just give this information to him. Or why you would keep this a surprise when he could've been better prepared if you gave him a heads up. He knew you were one who liked some dramatics and releasing it to the public would definitely prevent them from trying to hide this discrepancy, keeping their reputation intact, but you were nowhere to be seen. If this was all going to go down, surely, you'd want to be here to witness it.
