"Dawn."
"Five more minutes..."
"Dawn."
"I'll just skip school today... I... I didn't even do my math homework..."
"Daaaaaawn."
"The quadratic formula? Negative B plus or minus square root of B squared minus four A C-"
"Are you chanting some sort of spell?"
My eyes snapped open. "Logan!" I tilted my head upwards and saw him gazing down at me.
"Rise and shine."
I lifted my head up and returned to my sitting position on the chair. I moved a piece of his hair away from his face. "How long have you been awake?"
"About five minutes."
"How do you feel?"
"Very tired," he admitted. "But happy that you're h- Wait... How are we in the Castle?"
"It's a long story, but Owen did it. It was one of Malin's plans that he never got a chance to go through with. It's ironic that one of his "evil plans" ended up doing us good."
Logan frowned. "He altered the fabric of our dimension? Dawn, that's dangerous-"
"I know, but don't worry. We can fret about it later. Let's just focus on getting you better."
He grabbed my hand and placed it between his, still frowning as he traced the burn scars on my knuckles. "I don't like seeing these."
"You can heal them when you're healed," I answered pressing his hand to my lips.
"I can't believe we survived. I mean, we lost so much, but we're alive."
"I know," I grinned. "Now we just need to rebuild the village; start all over again."
"Have you been in here the whole time? Why haven't you changed clothes?"
"I haven't left your side since we got here."
"Not even for food?"
"Nope."
"Why's that?"
"I needed to be here when you woke up."
He cracked a smile and pulled me towards him. He pressed his lips to mine. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
The door slowly opened and Asher peeked inside. "Logan! You're awake! How do you feel?"
"Exhausted." I leaned back into my chair.
Asher walked in, grinning from ear to ear. He removed the oxygen tube from about Logan's face and reached over for a thermometer. "The Creator admitting exhaustion? Something must be wrong here," he teased. Asher handed him the thermometer and Logan placed it in his mouth.
When it beeped, he took it out. "No fever."
Asher grabbed the thermometer and checked for himself. "Good. Now we need to check for any organ damage." He paused. "Logan, I'm really glad you're okay."
"Thanks Asher."
"No really, for a second I-I thought you were a goner. I don't know what I would have done if... I didn't even want to think-"
"I know," Logan grinned. "You took really good care of me."
"I could kiss you right now." Asher's face was serious until he barked with laughter.
