I grumbled in my sleep. The light shone brightly through the window, but I still didn't want to get up.
"Today's the day," a voice said suddenly.
I yelped and bounced off my bed, smacking into the wall. "Ughh..." I slowly stood up from the ground, ready to murder the person in my room. I looked towards the door and stopped short. I couldn't even murder him if I tried...
"Don't you know how to knock?" I snapped, harsher than I intended to. Remember Dawn, Stay on his good side.
Malin shrugged. "Why bother? I was going to wake you up when I heard you mumble Logan's name. Very cute." He smirked, amused.
I shrugged and looked down at the floor, feeling sad as I thought about Logan. "Did you... need anything?"
He was about to speak, but stopped suddenly. "What happened to your face?"
I reached up to touch the soft patch of gauze. "A giant, man-eating cat attacked me. It was not a pretty sight..."
"Clarissa," Malin hissed angrily.
"Have you gone into this restroom, a few doors down?"
"No, why?"
"That's where it all went down..."
Malin scowled. "Restrooms are for using the bath or toilet, not for fighting!"
"I know! Owen said the same thing..."
"Well, I just wanted to let you know that today's the day I will be following through with my plans. I'm binding Logan to the island, and you're going to help me."
I choked on my own saliva. Damn it! Not yet! Ohh, think of something, Dawn! Stall! "What a shame," I answered, playing it cool. "I wanted to hang out before all of that heavy work..."
He raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to continue. "You know, taking a day to plan things out and just relax? Sit around and talk, just to make sure we know what we're doing, so we won't mess up..."
He thought about it for a second, eyeing me. I looked away and started making my bed, not wanting to falter with my nonchalant attitude. "Well, you are very clumsy... And I wouldn't want you to throw off my whole plan..."
"Then it's settled," I said, before he had a chance to change his mind. "I'll get changed and we'll go outside to talk."
"I'll wait down stairs." He turned and closed the door as he left, making me sigh with relief. I quickly got ready, not bothering to finish fixing my bed. I stopped by the restroom, slowly peeling off the patch on my face. There were four jagged lines down by cheek, each one a deep red-black color. It was no longer bleeding, but stung at the touch. If I poke at it too much, it'll start bleeding again... I wasn't sure if I should let my wound get some fresh air, or cover it up to protect it from infection. Shrugging, I decided to put a new patch on it.
As I walked downstairs, I heard angry shouts. "I didn't give you those specialty moves for you to scratch the hell out of whoever you please! I know you lack brain cells, but I expected you to be just a bit smarter than that!"
"Malin! Don't be mad at me! It was her fault! You still love me don't you?"
Malin laughed. "Love? How pathetic are you? Stupid human."
I reached the bottom of the stairs, standing there awkwardly. Clarissa glanced at me, her eyes narrowing. "It's her, isn't it? You're picking her over me?! I'm so much better! She had to have brainwashed you because no one in their right mind would rather have her instead of me."
