"Almost there. Almost there..." I whispered to myself, trying with little success to keep calm.
"Breathe, Dawn. Breathe. Nothing to-- AHHHHH!! WHAT DID I JUST STEP ON!?! IT'S MOVING!! WHY IS IT MOVING!?!?"
I stumbled and fell backwards, scraping the back of my legs and arms. I pointed my flashlight towards the ground, seeing a giant glob of green goo. It slowly crawled forward, stopped to sniff the air, then continued forward. I panted as I slowly got up, grabbing a stick close by. Cringing slightly, I poked the goo. The glob squirmed away, clearly not enjoying the fact that I was stabbing it with a stick.
"SkyFall just keeps getting weirder and weirder..." I grumbled, tossing the stick once I grew bored with harassing the green goo. I continued walking, each step making the tower look even taller.
As I reached the base of the tower, I noticed a wide building next to it. I could hear faint noises coming from within it, making me frown. My eyes widened when I realized it was probably the location of the rest of Malin's creatures. I'll make sure to stay the hell away from there... I found the small door of the tower entrance. I tensed, hesitant to touch the doorknob. What if I get electrocuted? Or what if the knob is fire-hot like it was in "Home Alone"? Nah... The knob doesn't look hot...
I grabbed the knob and sighed with relief when nothing happened. I twisted it and was even more relieved when I found out that it wasn't locked. I creeped inside and closed the door behind me, nothing but the light of my flashlight illuminating the way. I groaned as I stared at the spiral staircase, but shrugged it off.
After an eternity of stairs, and after I was certain that my thighs had turned to pure muscle, I finally reached the top to a second door. I opened it quietly, as if there were someone sleeping inside. Hah... Imagine if there was someone inside? Like someone chained to a wall or something? I shook my head. I'm so weird...
The door creaked slightly, revealing a pitch black room. Using my flashlight, I searched for a light switch along the wall. I saw several sconces, until there was finally a switch. The light above flickered for a few seconds, then shone steadily. Thick, purple curtains covered the only window of the tower, only leaving only a small gap visible. The round walls were made of rough stone.
There was a large wooden table directly in the center of the room and a glass door cabinet towards the far wall. Shelves lined the right wall, each one holding strange containers. The table had several thick books, mixing bowls, glass beakers, flasks, test tubes, and potions. Towards my left side, there was a bow and arrow rack, followed by a few quivers, all lined neatly in place. Many weapons hung on the left wall, some being morning stars, flails, scimitars, falchions, small daggers, and two-bladed swords. I shuddered just by looking at the spikes on the flails and morning stars, not wanting to imagine what it would feel like to get hit by one of those.
I walked to the cabinet, opening its glass doors. Jars lined the shelves in neat rows, each jar labeled something different. I scanned them, reading each and every one. Voltar Teeth, robin eggs, reptile scales, Enchanter wings, golden flakes, fairy dust, dark matter, Morpher bones, Protector flesh, mammal eyeballs, human blood...
I bit my lip, and decided not to read further, being that each jar contained something more horrifying than the last. Okay, enough looking around. Now, what I really came here for. I reached over to the table and opened one of the huge sorcery books. Running my fingers over the page, I searched the table of contents. Binding Enchantments, page 378.
I quickly scanned that page, looking for a specific binding spell. Binding someone within the boundaries of a land. I quickly read through the ingredients and actions needed to create the enchantment, and finally, I reached the section explaining how to reverse the spell.
